Sheikh Bilal has been identified as the accused involved in the murder of the girl whose beheaded naked body was recovered by the Jharkhand police from the state capital Ranchi’s Ormanjhi area on 3 January. The police have declared Chandve resident Bilal as absconding and intensified the search for him.
The Ranchi police have also released the photo of Sheikh Bilal in addition to giving an assurance that the names of the informers would be kept a secret. The police had already announced prize money of ₹5 lakhs to anyone who would furnish information related to the murder.
The police had recovered the beheaded body of a young girl from Parsagad in Ormanjhi. However, despite their best efforts, the police were unable to recover the police has been unable to trace the girl’s head. The police then intensified their efforts to solve their case. They even increased the prize money thrice in a bid to solve the case.
On Monday the police received a clue that helped them make headway in the case. Their search led them to Chandve resident Sheikh Bilal. The police conducted multiple raids but have not been successful in catching Bilal who is on the run. The police have now released his photographs asking the public to come forward with information regarding the absconding accused.
The police were able to make headway in the case after a couple from Chatwal village under the Chanho Police jurisdiction came forward to identify the headless body as their daughter. On further inquiries, the police were able to zero in on Bilal’s name.
The deceased has been identified as Sufiya Parveen who had gone missing two months ago. While the couple identified the girl on the basis of a mark on her legs, the police have sent samples for DNA testing to confirm their claim. It has come to light that Sufiya came in touch with Bilal after her relationship with her husband Khalid hit a rocky patch.
The Ranchi police have now stepped up the search for Bilal.
