VHP activist’s roadside fish shop set on fire in Karnataka

Whether it is West Bengal, Punjab or Karnataka, celebrating your Hindu identity or working for any Hindu organisation has become a deadly enterprise in the secular Republic of India.

In yet another such attack, ‘unknown miscreants’ set on fire a roadside fish shop belonging to a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activist in Karnataka. The incident took place at Helegetu in Uppinangady, Dakshina Kannada district, on the national highway. Ashok, the owner of the shop, had stored fish and ice.

The Uppinangady police, who visited the spot, are suspecting that the fire might be an attempt to ‘provoke communal clashes’ in the region. This is how the police usually deals with such attacks – either pass them off as ‘personal enmity’ or label them as a generic attempt to ‘provoke communal clashes’. After some time, the Hindu-hating secular and Islamist crowd could even start peddling theories that VHP or Sangh parivar themselves set fire to the shop to incite communalism.

The silencing of Hindu voices has been going on for many years now, and is only growing more intense as we have seen recently in the horrific WB post-poll pogrom. At the same time, anti-Hindu forces have deviously whipped up international propaganda about a ‘fascist Hindutva’ government being in power in Bharat.
