Another ‘inter-faith’ marriage ends horribly with ex-Hindu girl’s ‘suicide’

Sravanti, a 19-year-old Hindu woman, converted to Islam and married Salman in January of this year. The ‘inter-faith’ marriage did not last long and her body was found hanging from a ceiling on the 24th of May. Her parents and relatives allege foul play.

The marriage occurred in the Kamareddy district in Telangana, around 100 km north of Hyderabad. Salman who works as a clerk and Sravanti were both residents of the Indira Nagar Colony, where they entered into a relationship. She converted to Islam to marry Salman and changed her name to Sheikh Samira.

Two months after marriage, the couple moved somewhere else. Barely four months passed and she reportedly committed suicide. Her relatives now allege torture pointing to strange injuries on her back.

They alleged that their daughter was beaten to death and demanded strict action against Salman and his family for mentally harassing and physically torturing their daughter. They suspect foul play in the ‘suicide’ and demanded that Salman, his aunt, and uncle be arrested for the murder of their daughter. It is alleged that this was a case of grooming jihad, all along. Devunipalli police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

This is the reality of most ‘inter-faith’ marriages involving a Muslim man and non-Muslim woman, where the woman almost always ends up converting to Islam and reality hits hard once the honeymoon period wears off. Thanks to delusional parents bred on secular rhetoric propagated by our State and a popular culture which disparages Hindu Dharma and glorifies Islam, they have scant knowledge of their own Dharma or Islamic society. Sharia law does not recognize marriage between a Muslim man and Hindu woman, and young girls are too infatuated and ignorant to consider Special Marriage Act (SMA) which can at least theoretically safeguard their interests.

Our elites anyway have little regard for Hindu lives, so Sravanti will remain unmourned, no high-flying lawyer will file a PIL for investigation into her death. The Anglicized, woke crowd which dominates the ad-world will keep churning out Tanishq ‘Ekatvam’ ads that further the ‘composite culture’ delusion in young minds. But when a Sravanti dies at the altar of the dreams they sold, they won’t even bother to know her name.

The anti-conversion law introduced some time back in UP and MP needs to be extended across the country and conversions for the sake of marriage should be outlawed. Even for those marrying under SMA, mandatory counselling must be imparted so that the girl is fully aware of the socio-cultural realities of her spouse’s community.
