Bangladesh: Grade three student Ankita Suha raped and murdered

On 1st February a minor girl named Ankita Suha was abducted, brutally raped and murdered by one Mohammed Jahangir at Rupsha, Doulatpur police station, Khulna district, Bangladesh.

Eight people have been detained for questioning in the incident. Earlier, two people were arrested on charges of kidnapping the class three student Ankita. Ankita went missing while playing in the area last Friday (29th January) afternoon.

Initially Ankita’s father filed a general missing complaint and later a kidnapping case. On Wednesday, Mohammad Jahangir and his wife were arrested and sent to jail by the court. The very next day, Ankita’s body was found in a gunny bag and recovered from the ground floor of a building in the area.

Signs of blood were found on the roof of the building. Police believe that Ankita was raped and killed.

The relatives of the deceased have demanded exemplary punishment for this murder. “I am demanding death penalty for this murder”, said the victim’s father to a news crew.

“I want justice,” said one of Ankita’s relative. “These kind of inhuman monsters have no right to survive. It is better to hand them over to the mob who will provide instant justice”, said a neighbour.

“I also have a daughter and a niece. I am so afraid that I refuse to let them out of the house now”, a person from the same locality added.

“We found the victim’s body. Looking at the corpse, it is fully understood that it is a case of murder. We are investigating the motive of the murder in detail. Hopefully soon we will be able to unravel its mystery,” said the police.
