Krishna Valmiki lynching in Rajasthan at the hands of Muslim goons

An SC youth named Krishna Valmiki was lynched in Jhalawar of Rajasthan by Muslim goons on the 1st of July. Valmiki from neighboring Jhalrapatan was mobbed by Sagar Qureshi and a dozen others and he succumbed to his injuries on the 6th. Unlike the Pehlu Khan lynching, it failed to make headlines probably because the Gandhis are yet to condemn the incident.

Valmiki was dragged out of his car in broad daylight and brutally attacked by prime accused Qureshi and his gang with sticks and weapons. One of the criminals (he is absconding along with an accomplice) shot the video of the incident and it went viral on social media. This was done to create panic among the people.

They escaped from the scene of the crime on foot leaving the young boy to die. The seriously injured victim was taken to the District Hospital where after receiving first aid he was referred to Kota and from there to Jaipur. He died during treatment and the body was brought to Jhalawar and where his last rites were performed under tight police security.

Qureshi was arrested on the day of the lynching while nine including Rais, Imran, Sohail, Shahid, Akhtar, Burhan were arrested after Valmiki died. All the accused were charged with murder and most of them have criminal backgrounds. The one who made the video is being identified but has not been arrested yet.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar said that this was revenge due to an ongoing rivalry. A local named Ravi and Qureshi were fighting for supremacy in the area. On June 18, Ravi and his friends beat up Qureshi. Ravi was arrested and is now in jail. Qureshi wanted revenge on Ravi for the assault on him and attacked Ravi’s friend Krishna.

The death led to protests in Jhalrapatan with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal called it a mob lynching which the police denied. The Hindu organizations demanded justice for the family, compensation of Rs 1 crore, and a government job for the victim’s family. Anticipating further violence, police teams had been deployed in several areas of Jhalawar and Jhalrapatan.

It later came to light that local police tried to maliciously shield the accused and did not charge the criminals under the SC-ST act. Police lathi-charged BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers who went to Jaipur to submit a memorandum to the Collector in protest against Krishna’s brutal murder. BJYM state president Himanshu Sharma alleged that  atrocities against SCs are being ignored by the Congress regime in Rajasthan.

For a Hindu to expect justice and compensation in a congress-ruled state from a group of Muslim lynchers is not going to be an easy task. Crimes and atrocities against Hindus are on the rise in the state. The journalist vultures from the national media who prowl such crime scenes were also absent since the victim’s religious identity plays an important part in their scheme of things.
