DMK confidante Bishop Ezra Sargunam denigrates Bhagwan Ram, calls Jesus ‘superior to all else’

Ezra Sargunam, a bishop in the Chennai diocese of the Evangelical Church of India (ECI), who in the past had advised his followers to punch Hindus if they don’t accept that there is no such thing as Hindu religion, has again made a bigoted anti-Hindu hate speech targeting Bhagwan Shri Ram and demeaning him compared to Jesus, son of God as per Christian doctrine.

In what appears to be an online mass event, he preaches the following to his laity:

“If there is a name across the world it’s the name of Jesus. The story does not end with Jesus toiling, dying, being buried and coming back to life. History begins only after that. Some are building grand temples for some who don’t have any history, by making up history. Saying that the person was born here, they demolish the place of worship of other religions, they fought for many years and proved that the person was born there..in such times when a temple is being built for someone who was not born at all and does not find a place in history at all, the name that is above all other names is Jesus. I implore you to know this (truth).”

Hindus believe Sri Ram is the avatar (human incarnation) of  Bhagwan Vishnu, whose life story is recorded in the Ramayana, which along with Mahabharata comprises the two epics of Hindu itihaas (history as witnessed by the writer). Birth of Sri Ram has been dated to 7323 BCE by some historians using astronomical calculations corresponding to positions of stars and planets during events described in Ramayana. Studies have also shown that the land-bridge corresponding to Ram Setu between Bharat and Sri Lanka is man-made.

For the record, Christians like Ezra Sargunam believe that the earth was ‘created’ in 4004 BCE and that God created the world in seven days. This creationism theory is widely taught in many Christian-run schools in USA.

Ezra Sargunam is a close aide of late DMK leader MK.Karunanidhi and now of his son MK.Stalin. He can be seen in the party’s events including protests against any and every scheme or bill of the central government. He is also close to Dravidar Kazhagam honchos Veeramani and Suba Veerapandian. Perhaps encroaching and usurping others’ property does not appear wrong in the eyes of Ezra Sargunam as he himself has encroached a hillock in Chrompet, Chennai to build a church. It took 17 long years to remove that structure even with abundant proof and orders from the concerning quarters of the government.

Another church was built on the banks of Anakaputhur lake, Chennai. Evangelical Church of India, the FCRA organisation for which Ezra Sargunam is the chief functionary, received Rs. 7.6 Cr through foreign contribution in the financial year 2018-19.

How much longer will Hindus tolerate such hate speech against their revered sacred figures?
