Hindu man beaten up by Christian wife and son for not converting in Tamil Nadu’s Erode

True to the words in the Bible a family has been torn apart as the wife and the son have turned against a Hindu man in Chennimalai, a temple town of Erode district in Tamil Nadu. Narayanasamy, 52, is a weaver living in the temple town of Chennimalai that houses the famous Skanda temple. His wife Lalitha and son Srinath alias Murugesan were arrested by the police on the charges of physically harassing Narayanasamy.

It is alleged that both Lalitha and Srinath converted to Christianity 15 years ago and have been harassing Narayanasamy to do the same. However, he hasn’t relented to which they took offense. Meanwhile, they appear to have pressurized Narayanasamy to transfer his properties worth 2 crores in Srinath’s name. He was locked up inside the house and tortured for 10 days. Lalitha and Srinath are said to have used a hot rod to inflict injuries on him and beat him up using wooden and iron rods.

The neighbors got a whiff of what’s going on inside the house and informed Narayanasamy’s sister who along with her husband came to Narayanasamy’s rescue. They filed a complaint with the local police based on which they rescued the battered man. He was admitted to the government hospital and his wife and son were arrested. Numerous incidents of families being torn apart due to conversion to Christianity have been reported in the media and a good number have gone unreported as well.

In 2017 a 16-year-old boy was mercilessly beaten by his own father for not converting Christianity like the other family members. A traditional Hindu man, Gundappa, in Mysuru was converted by a pastor who has established a prayer hall in the village of 600 families. All members of the man’s family got converted one by one except his 16-year-old son. This resulted in verbal duels between the son and his father often. One day the father beat the his own son black and blue as the latter wanted to do puja in a temple.

Neighbors had to intervene and call the police to save the boy. The boy is said to be possessed by the gods sometimes and he wanted to remain a Hindu and practice Santana dharma. However, the father wanted him to leave the family if he doesn’t convert to Christianity.
