Gangasagar mela is West Bengal’s largest annual Hindu fair and pilgrimage, where lakhs of devotees gather on the day of Makar Sankranti to take a holy dip at the confluence of river Ganga and Bay of Bengal and offer puja in the Kapil Muni Temple.
This year, over three million devotees from across Bharat and abroad have flocked to the Gangasagar mela, which is rated as the second largest assembly of people after the quadrennial Kumbha Mela.
But this beautiful confluence of simple devotees from all walks of life was also not left alone by the Christian missionary mafia, which descended like vultures to spread their toxic message of religious supremacism. A man, who claims to have converted to Christianity along with his wife 3 years back, was stopped by members of the Hindu Jagran Manch from distributing lakhs of Bibles at this year’s Gangasagar mela.

The Bibles were planned to be distributed under the innocuous sounding Hindu label of ‘Pavitra Shastra’ (holy book). Such subterfuge, inculturation and exploitation of religious sensibilities of innocent Hindus is par for the course for the missionary mafia which is backed by a global, well-oiled machinery that pumps funds into Bharat through FCRA.
The video shows the Bibles were published by The Gideons International, an evangelical Christian association of businessmen and professionals founded in 1899 in Wisconsin, USA. The Gideons’ primary activity is distributing copies of the Bible free of charge. This Bible distribution is a global enterprise taking place in some 200 countries, territories and possessions. They place and distribute these Bibles in ‘strategic’ locations like hotel rooms, jails etc. In fiscal year ending May 31, 2018, Gideons received US$127 million (Rs. 900 crore) in total Operating Support and Revenue.
It is not clear what, if any, legal action was taken against this particular man for assaulting the faith of millions of Hindus at one of their most revered pilgrimages. In most such cases, the missionaries get away under cover of a lax law enforcement & administrative regime which is afraid of being labelled ‘communal’ if it tries to assert the letter and spirit of the law which prohibits such illegal and inflammatory proselytization. Can one imagine such brazen missionary activity in a Muslim religious congregation like Haj? No, because even if the missionary manages to avoid public lynching, he/she would be publicly executed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In the above video, a team of missionaries, some with Hindu-sounding names like Satyanarayan Choudhary, are seen distributing Bibles with hateful forewords against Hindu Dharma, again under the label ‘Pavitra Shastra’ (holy book). When challenged, they brazen it out saying ‘if you don’t want it, move on’ – why aren’t such people booked under IPC 153A and 295 for disturbing communal harmony? They wouldn’t dare do such a thing in Muslim majority area, but take advantage of Hindu apathy and ignorance of law.

The above tweet highlights a Facebook post by an American Baptist missionary who claims to have converted over 80000 Hindus during a 3-day stadium ‘crusade’! A crusade is a vigorous campaign for religious or social change – the term was first coined to describe the military expeditions launched by the Vatican to recover Christian Holy Land from Muslims in the 11th to 13th centuries.
How much longer will the patience of Hindu society be tested? Why are we allowing the religious and cultural diversity of our country to be torn asunder by these supremacist, Western vested interests who have now trained an army of sepoys?
