Review of Constitution, pan-Bharat law against conversions required: Juna Akhara head

Swami Yatindranand Giri Maharaj, mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara, has demanded a pan-Bharat anti-religious conversion law, population control bill and a review of the Constitution.

Speaking on the issue of the recent arrest of two Muslim preachers by the UP ATS for carrying out a conversion racket which converted over 1000 Hindus to Islam, Swamiji said: “Such conversions are going on a large scale throughout the country. We need to create awareness among masses about conversion by allurement. An anti-conversion law is need of the hour. We need such a law throughout the country to check this menace of conversion.”

Swami ji advocated parents educating their children about Dharma and such conversion activities.

He also said, “There is a need to review the Constitution. The existing Constitution does not address issues that are relevant today. A new Parliament building is being constructed. Before it becomes functional, there must be a review of the Constitution.”

A charter demanding equal Constitutional rights for Hindus was launched in 2018 by Hindu intellectuals and activists from all over the country.

Swami ji also emphasised on the need to introduce a pollution control bill. “Most of the problems are due to the increasing population of the country. I have been requesting successive governments to bring a population control bill,” Giri said.

He called for a two-child policy and making its violation a criminal offence. “Even the population of the entire Europe combined together is much less than India’s population. In such a scenario, how can you expect things to improve?” he said.
