Comedian Raju Srivastav lashes out at makers of Hindudveshi show Tandav

Comedian Raju Srivastav who is currently serving as the UP Film Vikas Parishad Chairman has lashed out at the makers of the Hindudveshi web series Tandav. Raju Srivastava is a well-known personality who was also nominated by PM Modi to be part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Srivastav released a short video in which he has expressed his views on the web series and its anti-Hindu content.

In the viral video, Srivastav is heard saying “Sharam Karo. Doob maro. Tumhe sharam aani chahiye, Hindu devi devtaon ka mazak udate hue (You should be ashamed of yourself for making fun of Hindu gods and goddesses)”.

He further says “If you have courage, try and make fun of other religions. Try and crack jokes on the people belonging to other religions. You can never muster the courage to do so because you know you will be beheaded even if you think of attempting it”.

Srivastav also said that Hindus tend to forgive and forget easily. This shortcoming is often exploited by makers of such shows opines the comedian while adding that it is high time the Hindus take a firm stand for themselves. We have to stand up for ourselves advised Srivastav. Srivastav also felt that mere removal of scenes isn’t enough and strict punishment should be meted out.

Hindupost had earlier reported how Tandav has surpassed all the latest Hindudveshi movies and series in its anti-Hindu content in the guise of freedom of expression. The artwork shown in the scene adorning the walls of the theatre is clearly an imitation of the Communist imagery seen in JNU etc.

The name of the series was carefully chosen for subliminal messaging – Tandav is the sacred dance form performed by Bhagwan Shiva. Whatever the political agenda of the makers, what was the need to peddle the same in a sacrilegious manner by making a mockery of Hindu Gods and sacred figures?

If even a fraction of the mockery and disparagement which Hindus have been subjected to had been directed at Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, or any other community, the country would be up in flames by now with repeat offenders behind such web series being on hit lists. The time to act for Government is NOW.

Multiple FIRs have been filed against the makers of Tandav at different places across the country including one at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar Police Station. The I&B Ministry had also issued a notice to Amazon Prime in relation to the show. It has also come to light that a four-member police team from UP has arrived in Mumbai to conduct a probe on the basis of a complaint registered against the show in Lucknow.

Although the makers have issued an apology in which they say they unintentionally hurt Hindu sentiments and have offered to remove the offending scenes, it isn’t far-fetched to conclude that the scenes were added deliberately with an intention to hurt Hindu religious sentiments and this apology is merely being used as an escape route after the severe backlash.

Furthermore, Bollywood has been a repeat offender and as Srivastav pointed out in his video the makers are merely apologizing because Hindus tend to forgive and forget easily. It is time Bollywood is made to realize that Hindudvesh is not par for the course and Hindu religious sentiments cannot and should not be taken for granted. We concur with Raju Srivastav that strict punishment should be meted out to the offenders.
