A Kakatiya date inscription was among the gold and silver treasure discovered on Thursday by a realtor while leveling a piece of land he had purchased in Jangaon district’s Pembarthy village.

Times of India (TOI) report states:
Realtor Mettu Narsimhulu and driver of the earthmover Ravi were in for a pleasant surprise when they found a pot full of golden and silver ornaments. Several earrings, nose beads, and other golden ornaments were found in the pot.
Jangaon additional collector Bhaskar, tahsildar Ravinder, assistant commissioner of police Vinod Kumar and other officials arrived at the spot and examined the ornaments. The tahsildar conducted a panchanama and seized the pot in the presence of witnesses.
Ravinder issued a statement to the media saying they discovered gold and silver in the treasure pot examined by them and bullion experts have estimated the silver to be around 1.7 kg and 189 grams gold. The staff of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) visited the site along with ASI State Director. ASI has decided to deposit the treasure with the Warangal Urban District treasury.
An inscription of Kakatiya date has also been recovered along with the above-mentioned treasure. It must be mentioned that renowned poet Bammera Pothana lived in this village in the 15th century. Kakatiyas ruled most of present-day Andhra and Telangana in addition to parts of Karnataka and Odisha between the 12th and 14th Centuries.
While more details regarding the inscription would be known only after ASI conducts a detailed study of the same, the recent spate of archaeological discoveries made across various sites in Bharat such as Bhubaneshwar, Sanauli, Umra, and Sakleshpur among others makes a case for more concerted and coordinated archaeological surveys to be conducted.
