In a horrific case of gang rape, blackmail and sexual exploitation reported from Dharampuri in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, a married woman has alleged that she was first raped by an acquaintance and then further exploited for around 1 year by a total of 6 men. Out of the 6 accused, Salim, Irfan, Rafique, Fodu have been arrested, while Firoz and Maulana Farooq are still absconding.
As per the Hindi daily Nai Dunia, the woman lodged the complaint on Saturday along with her husband. Her husband and son are drivers – around one year back, her husband sold a truck for Rs. 1.5 lakhs to a person from their village. On 17 March 2017, her husband and son left to deliver the truck to Pune. She was alone at home with little children. That same evening, the purchaser of the truck came to deliver the Rs. 1.5 lakh. As she did not know how to count the money, so she called an acquaintance Salim to help her out.
At 12 AM that same night, Salim came to her house claiming that her husband had called him as her phone was unreachable. When she opened the door, Salim was accompanied by another man Firoz. They forced their way inside and Salim threatened to kill her with a knife if she made any sound. After raping her, they threatened to defame her if she told anyone, and also threatened to kill her husband and son. They grabbed Rs 25,000 from her and left.
Over the course of the next year, they kept raping her whenever her husband would go out of town and also extorted the entire sum of Rs. 1.5 lakh in small chunks.
But the worst was yet to come. When the woman refused to give them any more money, they forced her into prostitution. She was raped by Irfan and Rafique – she would be beaten up if she protested. After 8 months, the two brought Maulana Farooq and Fodu. On 25 March 2018, when her husband was out, Salim and Firzo raped her once again.
Terrified of her oppressors people, the woman went to her parent’s place in Maharashtra for a few days. When her husband came there to take her back, she broke down and told him everything. Both of them approached the police to register their complaint.
