Rahul Gandhi Lies in Karnataka Rally to Provoke Dalits, Says “SC/ST Act Has been Abolished”

Congress President Rahul Gandhi was caught spreading a blatant lie that the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities (PoA) Act has been ‘abolished’, during a rally on Tuesday in election-bound Karnataka.

Rahul Gandhi’s statement came just a day after the entire country was rocked by violence during the Bharat Bandh organized to protest the Supreme Court ruling to remove the immediate arrest provision of the SC/ST PoA Act. The Central Government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court to reconsider that ruling, and the matter will come up for hearing after a few days.

This deliberate distortion of facts to claim that SC/ST Act has been abolished, and blaming the Central Government for an independent decision of the Supreme Court, is a malicious act with only one goal – to whip up passions in uninformed sections of public who are already agitated by all sorts of propaganda going around. All the media reporting on this incident is presenting it as an ‘allegation’ made by Amit Shah, none has criticized Rahul Gandhi for this outrageous lie.

Here is the full video of the speech, posted by the Karnataka Congress twitter handle. One can listen in at the 34 minute mark to corroborate the clip Amit Shah has tweeted.

The Election Commission of India needs to take immediate notice of this malicious electioneering by the President of the leading Opposition party. A case under IPC 505 (rumor mongering with intent to incite) needs to be lodged.

Rahul Gandhi is no stranger to peddling pure nonsense and fiction during election rallies. In the run up to Lok Sabha 2014 elections, he had tried to whip up paranoia in minorities by claiming “22,000 people will be killed if Modi comes to power.”

It is a shameful indictment of our intellectual and media elite that they have failed to call out Rahul Gandhi for this dangerous lie and other inaccurate, inane things he keeps uttering from time to time.

This is in sharp contrast to the tortuous analysis, even distortion, of each and every word said by Narendra Modi during his campaign for the 2014 LS election – all in an attempt to prove that ‘Modi is inattentive to detail and facts’. If even a fraction of that same scrutiny were to be applied to Rahul Gandhi, a man touted as a potential PM by his sycophants, the stark reality of his unsuitability for any type of public office would be clear for all too see.
