Saif Ali Khan apologizes after Hindus slam his controversial comment

Actor Saif Ali Khan has released a statement of apology after making a particularly disturbing and bruising comment related to his forthcoming film ‘Adipurush’ in which he portrays the character of Lankesh (Ravana).

In an interview given to the Mumbai Mirror on the 5th Dec 2020, the actor landed himself in deep waters as he stated that-

“It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his (sic) nose.”

The above said statement intensely miffed the emotions of not only Hindus but also of the entire country that looks up to Shri Rama and Sita Mata. It is to be noted that Shri Rama and Maa Sita are not just adulated in Bharatvarsha but are also revered in countries like Indonesia, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, China, Thailand, Nepal, Philippines, Japan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mongolia and more. Therefore, the influence of Ramayana is tremendous and it becomes the actor’s duty to make responsible statements.

After colossal criticism on social media, people began demanding that the actor should be replaced. Under the stress of the masses Saif Ali Khan released a statement of regret. The statement was released on the 6th of December 2020 in which the actor told Mumbai Mirror that-

“I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused a controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions.”

The question is that the controversial statement could not have been made without the knowledge of the film director and producer of the upcoming movie nor is Saif Ali Khan a naive newcomer who has no clue regarding life and the statements that he makes. So, was this statement yet another ‘Marketing Gimmick’?

Whatever it may be, Hindus now need to be all the more careful for this film can certainly lead to distortion of Ramayana which will not be tolerated. The entire team behind the movie – producer T-Series, “Baahubali” star Prabhas who is acting as Sri Ram, and director Om Raut (of Tanhaji fame) – needs to come clean and assure Hindu society about their intentions.

It is therefore desirable that the ‘Sant Samaj’ comes forward in order to supervise this film. In fact, it must become mandatory for any producer and director to seek permission from the ‘Sant Samaj’ in order to make any film related to Hindu Dharma.

Moreover, the film, its dresses, script and casting must take place under the guidance and supervision of Hindu saints or a body like VHP.  It is therefore advisable that a board that includes learned sages is made in order to supervise films being made on Hindu Dharma and history. Such a board will ensure that no distortion related to the same takes place.

Before Bharatvarsh forgives Saif Ali Khan, they must be reminded that he is the same actor who questioned the very identity of the country when his film Tanhaji was released. Moreover, who can forget the disheartening fact that despite many requests of his fans, he did not once hesitate in naming his son as ‘Taimur’, the barbaric Mongol invader who was responsible for a brutal massacre in Delhi in 1398.

Many in Bollywood like Saif Ali Khan continue taking Hindus for granted. They earn their millions from Hindu movie-goers, but then turn around to denigrate & mock the same people in their movies. But this time around, they have bitten off more than they can chew – any kind of distortion with Ramayana simply will not be tolerated.
