12-year-old Dalit girl set on fire by stalker & father of 4, Mohiuddin Saheb, in Kurnool, AP

A 12-year-old girl was set ablaze in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh by one Mohiuddin Saheb, a married man with four children, who had been stalking the girl for several months.

The condition of the girl is critical – she has suffered third degree burns on 65 to 70% of her body. After being first admitted to Adoni general hospital, she was later moved to Kurnool government general hospital. The accused is on the run.

The incident occurred Badinehall village of Kowthalam mandal in Kurnool district. After the girl complained to her parents about being harassed by the accused, her parents warned him to stay away. Incensed by this, Mohiuddin Saheb poured petrol on the child and set her on fire on Saturday.

An FIR has been registered in the Kowthalam police station under Section 307 (attempted murder), Nirbhaya Act and SC-ST Atrocities Act.
