A case has been lodged against 3 youth – Wakib, Javed and Amjad – for the gangrape of a 12-year-old girl in Kandhla police station area, Shamli district, West UP, Hindi daily Amar Ujala has reported.
The girl’s father told police that on Tuesday evening his daughter was playing outside their house when the 3 accused abducted her and gang raped her. They left the girl in a dazed condition and fled. Police station in-charge OP Chaudhary said that a case has been lodged based on the father’s report and police is looking out for the accused.
Shamli district in West UP, bordering Haryana, is notorious for such crimes. In 2016, Kairana town in this district had witnessed a mass exodus of around 250 Hindu families due to insecurity triggered by spree of attacks against women, daylight murders of traders and other targeted intimidation. The district has ~ 58% Hindu and 42% Muslim population.
