16-year old gang-raped, murdered and thrown into a septic tank, 3 arrested – West Bengal

The Rajganj Police arrested three youths on the charges of gang-rape and murder of a 16-year old minor girl. The arrested accused have been identified as Rahman Ali (30), a resident of Rajganj Pradhan Para, Jamirul Haque (28), a resident of Saulmari and Tamirul Haque (32), a resident of Dangamari area of ​​Jahuri under Sadar block.

According to local and police sources, the victim who was a resident of Lal School Balabari area under Sannyasikata Gram Panchayat of Rajganj went missing on August 10. Following this, her father lodged a complaint at the Rajganj police station. Based on the complaint, the Police, under the leadership of CI Dipajjal Bhowmick, launched an investigation and got hold of all the three accused on Thursday.

During the police interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed that they gang-raped the minor multiple times, killed her and then dumped her in a septic tank on August 15. Based on the confession, the body was recovered later that night from the septic tank of a resident of the Pradhanpara area. All three will be produced before the Jalpaiguri court today and will be taken in police remand.

Meanwhile, Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy and Trinamool SC/ ST/ OBC Cell Jalpaiguri District President Krishna Das met the mourning family today and assured them of providing them with every help they need and to stand by their side in the coming days. The MLA expressed outrage over the brutal incident and demanded justice for the innocent heart.
