5 deadly attacks by cattle smugglers on police & villagers in just 4 days

At least 5 cases of deadly attacks by cow smugglers on police & villagers have been reported from different parts of the country between 30 July and 2 August –

1.) 30th July – Alwar, Rajasthan

Cow smuggler Salim fired upon villagers in Alwar district of Rajasthan, injuring one villager Ramjeet. While two smugglers managed to flee, Salim was caught by the villagers and thrashed before being handed over to police. While a case was registered against the cow smugglers, Rajasthan Police also decided to charge the villagers with IPC provisions of causing hurt, wrongful confinement and unlawful assembly.

So citizens coming to each other’s aid when a crime is occurring, acting in self-defence against a criminal, and assisting law enforcement in catching the criminal is now considered ‘unlawful assembly’, ‘causing hurt’ & ‘wrongful confinement’ respectively. It appears our secular State would prefer the ordinary citizen to just roll over & lie defencelessly at the mercy of criminals, twiddling their thumbs waiting for the police to arrive.

2.) 30 July, Jaunpur UP

Cattle smugglers tried to run over 3 Home Guard constables with their pickup truck in Jaunpur, UP. The constables were on picket duty around midnight when they tried to stop the high-speed pick up. But instead of slowing down, the driver increased his speed and actually started chasing the guards who somehow managed to escape. Later, that same pick-up deliberately hit a cycle on which 2 other Home Guards were travelling, critically injuring constable Arvind Yadav. Local police officials denied the incident.

3.) 1 Aug – Kasganj, UP

Police arrested one cattle smuggler Raju after a shootout in Kasganj, UP, which started when the smugglers refused to stop at a police checkpoint and instead opened fire on the cops. 3 smugglers managed to escape, while two loader vehicles with fake number plates used by the smugglers were confiscated. The arrested smuggler had another case lodged against him in Moradabad district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Assam’s Dhubri district, Trinayan Bhuyan was brutally attacked in the neighbouring state of West Bengal when he went to nab a gang of cattle smugglers. The top cop somehow managed to save himself by blank-firing.

5.) 2 Aug – Bharatpur, Rajasthan

Police in Bharatpur set up roadblocks after receiving information about a container of smuggled cattle passing through on Friday night. The trapped smugglers opened fire on the police and later fled leaving their vehicle & container behind. 30 cattle were cruelly stuffed into the container, and they were taken to a gaushala by police.
