The press release issued by the Agency in this regard gives out details about the operation. The statement says that the Agency learned about the presence of terrorists belonging to the Pakistan sponsored module of Al-Qaeda at various locations in the country including West Bengal and Kerala.

Furthermore, they discovered that the group intended to create terror in the minds of the people by killing innocent people through terror attacks at various vital installations in the country. NIA is now probing the matter having registered a case (RC-31/2020/NIA/DLI) against the arrested terrorists.
Of those arrested, six terrorists are from West Bengal while three hail from Kerala. The statement issued by the body states that a huge amount of incriminating material including digital devices, documents, jihadi literature, sharp weapons, country-made firearms, locally fabricated body armor, and articles and literature regarding home-made explosives have been confiscated from the terrorists.
The primary probe suggests that the handlers from Pakistan used social media to radicalize them and motivate them to undertake terror attacks at different places including the National Capital Region (NCR). It has also been revealed that some of the gang members intended to travel to New Delhi to procure arms and ammunition while the module was also trying to raise funds to organize the attacks.
Murshid Hasan, Iyakub Biswas, and Mosaraf Hossen have been arrested from Ernakulam while those arrested from Murshidabad are Najmus Sakib, Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal, and Atitur Rehman
The arrested terrorists are expected to be produced in the concerned courts at Kerala and West Bengal seeking their police custody for investigating them further.
Islamic radicalization in several pockets of the country is a cause for concern. However, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the recent arrests have been made from the states of Kerala and West Bengal where Islamic radicalization is at its peak.
In Kerala, Islamic radicalization is so intense that even school text-books are not spared from the same. The indoctrination has been brainwashing the youth who are motivated to join terrorist organizations. With the continuing decline in the Hindu population and rising Islamic conversions, the possibility of Kerala turning into an Islamic state in the next ten years is very much a possibility.
It must be mentioned here that in both Bengal and Kerala the state administration has been actively pursuing minority appeasement and mollycoddling Islamists which is emboldening the latter. These recent arrests would hopefully serve as an eye-opener.
