AIMIM Corporator threatens, man-handles cop outside mosque: “Don’t talk nonsense…go and close temples”

An AIMIM Corporator was filmed threatening and man-handling a policeman on Thursday in Chavani area of Hyderabad, Telangana. Two constables were performing their duty during lockdown near a mosque when the Corporator and other Muslim men got into an argument with them.

In the video, the Corporator is heard aggressively admonishing the cop outside a mosque, “Don’t talk nonsense…show me the permission first….go and do this in temples.” Another cop starts calling someone on his phone, to which the corporator says “Call your superior, show me the permission.” Another man goes up close to the first cop while shooting the whole incident on his mobile, at which the cop starts removing his name badge. The Corporator pulls the cop’s hand away and wags his finger at the cop’s face, shouting “Why are you removing it.”

According to the police, the two policemen were stationed near the mosque as part of their orders when the AIMIM corporator Murtuza Ali arrived at the spot and picked up an argument with them. SVN Shivaram Sharma, ACP Santoshnagar, said that a complaint has been registered by the police constable and a case has been registered against Ali.

Corporator Ali alleged the policemen were asking the management to lock the premises and ‘threatening’ people in the area, and he demanded them to show a permission letter for locking. But why the mosque was open and people coming to pray during a national lockdown, is the question? Does separate law apply to Hyderabad, or have the authorities there given carte blanche to mosques to do as they please?

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Telangana was 1038 as on April 30, majority of them linked to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat event. The highest number of cases have been reported from Hyderabad in the state and a total of 12 districts have been identified as Covid19 hotspots or red zones.

Such shocking behavior from AIMIM MLAs is not rare. This rabidly communal party has given us the “We 15 crore Muslims are enough to tackle you 100 crore (Hindus), just remove police for 15 minutes” line from MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and repeated recently by MLA Waris Pathan.

The example for treating the police with contempt comes from the head of the party, the smooth-talking and UK-educated yet vitriolic Islamist Asaduddin Owaisi, much cheered in Lutyen’s Delhi as a ‘role model, modern’ Muslim. In 2005, Asaduddin and his brother Akbaruddin, along with other AIMIM activists, entered into heated arguments with a district collector and police inspector over a road-widening project. On another occasion, a video of Owaisi hurling choice abuses at police, including a senior inspector, went viral. He is known for referring to police as ‘Khatmal’ in his rabble-rousing public speeches which Lutyens’ media brushes under the carpet when they call and fawn over him in their TV studios.

The party has just 7 MLAs in the 119 member Telangana assembly, and is in alliance with TRS (88 MLAs). But AIMIM and Asaduddin Owaisi carry far greater influence with CM K Chandrashekhar Rao than these numbers would suggest. The party rules over old Hyderabad city like a mafia.

Recently, the Cyberabad police (IT area adjacent to Hyderabad) had cracked down on poor Hindu fruit vendors for merely putting up saffron flags, upon a complaint by a Muslim that this was promotion of ‘religious discrimination’. Subsequently, Cyberabad police lodged an FIR for ‘fake news’ against a twitter user for a satirical post mocking the earlier police action against the Hindu vendors. Similar crack downs on Hindu fruit & vegetable hawkers for displaying their Hindu identity have been reported from Jharkhand and Bihar.

This incident again shows the ugly reality of the modern secular Indian state – which cowers in front of Islamists and the missionary mafia, while oppressing Hindu masses. History suggests that nothing will come of the FIR filed against AIMIM Corporator Murtuza Ali – we would be pleasantly surprised if proven otherwise.
