Assam Teacher Commits Suicide After Muslim Gang Blackmails Using Wife’s Obscene Videos

A teacher from Assam committed suicide on Monday by jumping in front a goods train. In a suicide note posted on Facebook, Ribul Phulmali stated that people from a ‘particular community’ in Dhubri were blackmailing him using obscene videos of his wife, forcing him to take such an extreme step.

Digital media outlet Time8.in, which specializes in coverage of the North East region has reported

“In a heart rending incident, a teacher posted in a Dhubri school committed suicide in his native place at Mariani by jumping in front of a moving train. The victim has been identified as Ribul Phulmali, who hai

led from an area under the Deberapara Police Station in Mariani under Jorhat Dist.

As per reports, the incident happened at around 9:30 am on Monday near Mariani Railway Station wherein the teacher appointed by the State Government through Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) committed suicide by jumping before a speeding goods train.

What is now making waves in the area, is his Suicide Note in Facebook where he alleged that some people from a ‘particular community’ in Dhubri lured his wife and made some obscene videos of her following which they started blackmailing him demanding money. At a time when reports of rape cases are emerging from different parts of the state, the news of a TET teacher committing suicide, alleging that Assamese girls and women just like his own wife are no longer safe in some places where people from a specific community are targeting them repeatedly, has created much sensation.

According to his Facebook update, the 32-year-old victim was appointed as a TET teacher in the year 2012, and was posted at a school in Dhubri where he was living happily with his wife and his son, until his wife was lured by some people in Dhubri who started blackmailing him and threatened to tarnish his reputation and to take his life. This ultimately compelled the victim to commit suicide, after posting a status on his Facebook wall a couple of minutes before his death with three letters addressed to his son, wife and the Education Minister, which went viral in the social media soon.

The TET teacher further stated that Assamese girls and women are no longer safe in places like Dhubri where people from a specific community are targeting them repeatedly.

The victim, in this view, has called upon the Education Minister to take adequate measures on the matter before other women and families inhabiting that area are affected in the same manner as Ribul’s, while requesting the Minister to guide his son who now would have nobody after Ribul’s death.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), and a sub-division of the All Assam Tea Students’ Association (AATSA) has urged the police to investigate on the matter with utmost immediacy.”

Dhburi district of Assam has 79.67% Muslim population and 19.92% Hindus as per Census 2011. It a sensitive district right on the border with Bangladesh.

The Lok Sabha MP representing Dhubri is Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, the head of the AIUDF party, who is feted as ‘perfume baron’ by the Lutyens cabal and considered a powerful kingmaker from the North East in the ‘secular’ scheme of things. Ajmal is also president of the Assam State Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and a ‘master’s degree’ holder in Islamic Theology and Arabic from Deoband Islamic seminary.

AIUDF is a blatantly communal organization – its ex-MLA Sheikh Shah Alom recently threatened “If things continue like this, Muslims will attack..they just need some time.” Ajmal’s party backs illegal Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh, and has even been accused by indigenous Assamese Muslim groups of fanning communal sentiments during the 2012 violence in Assam.

There has been a spate of rapes and other attacks on Hindu women in Assam, and this could well be a calculated strategy of Islamist elements backed by AIDUF to create communal tension and trigger a Hindu exodus from Muslim majority parts of Assam, especially in light of the SC-monitored updation of National Register of Citizen (NRC) which could lead to expulsion of lakhs of illegal Bangladeshi Muslims.
