On Monday, July 1, 2019, a team of policemen who had gone to catch a cattle smuggling gang in Bareilly of Uttar Pradesh, was attacked fiercely by a mob. Apparently, they were badly beaten up and the mob even tore their uniform as reported by Hindi daily Navbharat Times.
It was reported that a cow smuggler named Anni, resident of Faridapur Choudhary village, was on the radar of police as a case was registered against him under the Cow Protection Act. On Monday, some policemen went to the village to arrest him. He was arrested from his house but soon a mob attacked the police team. They even rescued Anni amidst this attack.
However, later Anni and three others were taken into police custody. A team of police was deployed in the village to take control of the situation. Police has assured to take strict action against the people who attacked them.
