Bharat’s UP State Ruled by ‘Hindu Fundamentalist’?

Here are pictures of buffaloes slaughtered on Eid in Meerut, UP. The same UP that is headed by a Hindu Fundamentalist CM Yogi Adityanath. The CM had said that open-air slaughter of animals on Eid was forbidden since it hurts the religious sentiments of other communities. Yet we see in the following pictures (from Zakir colony, Meerut) that heads of slaughtered buffaloes were strewn about in the open, on street sides, for everyone to see.

All pictures credit and courtesy twitter account of Yati Ma Chetnanand Saraswati of Dasna Devi Mandir (@advchetna).

Now, there are some points to be noted here. The obvious one is that the cabal of Islamic street muscle (local gangs, mobs, criminals) and their political patrons do NOT care about any laws of the land. They openly violate laws that prevent them from asserting their Islamic culture, especially when that Islamic culture is hurtful to Hindus.

But that is not the only point I wanted to make. To me, the bigger point is this. This is happening in UP, which is ruled by—the secularists want you to believe—a Hindu Fundamentalist CM. Now just imagine a situation in Pakistan where a province was ruled by hardline Talibani types. What would be the state of religious minorities there? Even on whispers of blasphemy, mobs gather there to kill minorities. If someone had done something of the sort in these pictures (say, killed some pigs and thrown their remains close to a mosque), you can be dead sure the perpetrators would be dragged to the local stadium, and shot dead. In Bharats state ruled by a “Hindu fundamentalist CM, I can bet you nothing will happen, not even an FIR.

So my bigger point is this: there are serious DOUBLE STANDARDS when it comes to Hindu Dharma vs Islam. Even the so-called moderate Muslims are far far more fundamentalist, violent, and fanatical about their beliefs than even so-called fundamentalist Hindus. Indeed, the most far-right Hindus seem far more reasonable, civil, peaceful than these moderate Muslims. You have not seen any mob gather for these slaughtered buffaloes, no shops torched, not people lynched. You have not seen police act and arrest anyone. But imagine the other way round—if a cartoon of Mohammed for example, was found somewhere. You can bet that the entire city would be in flames, and a few innocents would be killed.

We must call this double standard out. We Hindus cannot remain at the receiving end of these ridiculous double standards in the only country we can call our own.

A religion, like any doctrine, should be subjected to critical examination using facts and reason.
