“CAA won’t affect Indian Muslims”: Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth has come out in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and quashed the rumour-mongers who are provoking the nation’s Muslims over the Act & proposed nationwide NRC. He said the NPR (National Population Register) will help find out about outsiders (foreigners), whereas nationwide NRC has not yet been formulated.

“Citizenship Amendment Act will not affect any citizen of our country. If it affects Muslims, then I will be the first person to stand up for them,” Rajinikanth said on Wednesday as per the Organiser.

“How will Muslims who chose to stay back in India following partition be sent out of the country?” asked Rajinikanth. “Citizenship Amendment Act will not affect any citizen of our country, if it affects Muslims then I will be the first person to stand up for them. NPR is a necessity to find out about the outsiders. It has been clarified that NRC has not been formulated yet,” Rajinikanth was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Rajanikanth exposed the hypocrisy of those opposing  the NPR saying, “NPR was an exercise undertaken by the Congress in 2011, it was done in 2015 and also now.”

“Some political parties are misleading people about CAA. Students should not allow themselves to be misguided by parties. They should fully understand an issue, before jumping into protests,” he said.

DMK’s 2G scam accused MP M K Kanimozhi, daughter of party patriarch Karunanidhi and his third wife, said Muslims in India had “already been affected” by CAA and Rajanikanth should raise his voice for them.

Earlier, Rajaniknath had upset Dravidian extremists when he exposed the bigotry and anti-Hindu nature of Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) party founded by  E.V. Ramaswami Naicker, aka ‘Periyar’.
