Did Congress Set Haryana on Fire?

There is mounting evidence which shows that the Congress party and ex-CM Bhupinder Hooda is behind the violent Jat quota stir that has rocked Haryana. The sinister pattern behind the agitation which turned violent on Friday, 20 February, was first broken by journalist Shalini Singh, who writes

“The maximum carnage was witnessed in Rohtak and Jhajjar areas, former Haryana chief minister BS Hooda’s political strongholds. Curiously, Hooda and his family, including his son and Congress MLA from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, were nowhere to be seen in their hometown because they had made a timely exit from the scene.

The mob went on a rampage all along a 7-km stretch from the IG Police’s office to Quila Road. Curiously, Hooda’s house and properties were untouched while neighboring houses were torched. The BJP’s state Finance Minster, Capt. Abhimanyu’s house was completely looted and burnt while his family, who were home when the mob attacked, had to flee to safety.”

Apart from the suspicious exit of the Hooda family from their hometown just before the violence erupted and the fact that only their property was magically spared, another piece of damning proof emerged on 21 Feb. Shalini Singh adds in the same article –

An audio tape emerges

“Late on Sunday, 21 February 2016, in an unexpected turn of events, an audio tape of BS Hooda’s political advisor, professor Virender, advising a Captain (name unconfirmed but purportedly the spokesperson of the Dalal Khap Chaurasi) came into the public domain.>/p>

In the audio, the professor is heard asking the Captain to stir up trouble in Sirsa, while commending the ‘work’ achieved in the Deshwal belt which comprises parts of Rohtak, Jind and Sonepat. Rohtak is Hooda’s political constituency and hometown.

The professor has already admitted on a local Haryana news channel that it is his voice in the tape, which confirms its authenticity. The role of politically motivated individuals’ in triggering the violence is now being investigated.”

Below is the audio and transcript of this conversation –

Damage to Haryana

The article provides details on the extent of the loss of life and property which Haryana has suffered due to this political gamesmanship –

“This sudden violence for cheap political gain has taken 12 lives (the latest figure is 19, but unconfirmed reports say it could be much higher), while injuring around 80. There has been a huge loss to public and private property with the torching of homes, schools, offices, shops and public and private transport. It has hit rail services in the northern states, affecting around 1,000 trains with 736 trains cancelled and 105 diverted besides damage to rail property. The Army has been deployed in 8 districts, while curfew was imposed in Rohtak, Bhiwani, Jhajjar and Hisar. The more damaging long term impact is the planting of a wholly undesirable seed of enmity between Jats and non-Jats in Haryana.

Even as rampaging mobs were wreaking havoc in Rohtak, his own hometown and political constituency, Hooda chose to leave for New Delhi to go on a hunger strike to appeal for “peace and harmony”. No attempts were made to douse the fires at home.”

Why are Jats Agitating – Aren’t they relatively well off?

Why is the once prosperous and land holding Jat community today rioting in the streets for Government hand outs? The answer is linked to the past decade of decay that Bharat witnessed under UPA, and especially the rampant land loot in Haryana from 2004-14 under the Congress CM Bhupinder Hooda. The sweet heart deals for Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra ensured that Hooda remained in the good books of the Congress President, and his illegal racketeering was mostly buried by our national media. Shalini Singh elucidates – .

“Why are the Jats, who were once the landlords of Haryana, now making such a desperate bid for reservation? The answer lies in the corrupt land practices of the Hooda regime, which took land from farmers, ostensibly for “public purpose”, only to change the land use and licence it to builders. This helped them to first easily acquire the land at cheap rates and further become the beneficiaries of huge premiums as a result of the change in land use to residential and commercial. Continuous deployment of this strategy by Hooda over his 10-year tenure has completely disenfranchised the Jat community, which is not skilled for competitive corporate jobs.

In symptomatic doublespeak, which ignores this exploitative history, the Congress party and Khaps have been alleging that the Jat quota stir took a violent turn on 19February 18, 2016, because the ruling BJP government in Haryana had taken too long to fulfil the promise of granting Jats the Other Backward Class (OBC) status that they seek. This again, is far from the truth. Firstly, because the demand is an old one, which first surfaced in Hooda’s tenure way back in 2010. Protests through the years — in March 2011, March 2012, December, 2012, September, 2013 and March 2014 — remained largely confined to Mayyar in Hisar district. Unlike this time, Rohtak, in particular, remained peaceful through all these agitations.

After delaying the matter all through his tenure, the Congress-led UPA regime craftily announced reservation for Jats in the OBC category just a day before the announcement of the 2014 General Elections. However, the Supreme Court rejected the reservation, on three main grounds: The timing of the announcement; the fact that it was not accompanied by mandatory recommendation by National Commission of Backward Classes (NCBC); and lastly, shoddy survey data of the economic, educational and social status of the Jat community.”

Congress – A grave threat to the nation?

This is not the first instance of Congress resorting to cynical caste/religious politics at the cost of the nation. After the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai by Pakistan backed LeT terrorists, A.R. Antulay, Congress leader and then Union Minister for Minority Affairs, claimed a ‘Hindu hand’ was involved in the attacks. The US ambassador cable to the US government revealed by WikiLeaks showed the cynical Congress doublespeak on 26/11 –

“Compounding matters, the Congress Party, after first distancing itself from the comments, two days later issued a contradictory statement which implicitly endorsed the conspiracy. During this time, Antulay’s completely unsubstantiated claims gained support in the conspiracy-minded Indian-Muslim community. The entire episode demonstrates that the Congress Party will readily stoop to the old caste/religious-based politics if it feels it is in its interest.”

The cynical way in which Sonia led Congress dealt with the Telangana agitation, delaying any decision while the region burnt and then finally resorting to subterfuge to pass the required bill in LS just months before the 2014 LS elections, has eerie similarity to the current violence in Haryana.

Way Forward – Not Quota, But Economic Growth

The fires lit by Mandal around 25 years back are still raging across the nation, fuelled by ‘national’ parties like Congress and various casteist outfits like SP, RJD etc.

Reservations are a sensitive issue in Bharat, which has been wrecked by decades of mal-governance and a socialist mindset where large parts of the economy are still shackled – hence the desperation among various social groups to vie for the fixed pie (read Government jobs) that goes around.

However, even efforts to introduce much needed reform like GST are stymied by the same Congress which views any economic progress under a non-Congress regime as antithetical to it’s chances of re-capturing power and perpetuating the family rule. However, there are some signs that even regional parties are waking up to Congress machinations in Parliament. It is incumbent upon all right-minded individuals and political formations in this country to unite and fight the Congress eco-system which will burn this nation to the ground, if needed, to meets its political goals.

To conclude, we would advise our Jat brothers and sisters to listen to one of their own – Anuradha Beniwal, a Jat girl and national chess champion from Haryana:

  2. The solution to deal with such situation is to move SC seeking direction to bar the rioteers from Voting during the next three elections at least so as to puncture the steam flowing from any political partyu hoping to gain from such violence and also impound the entire property of those who destroy the public assets.

    • fair point, but the issue is how to identify these rioters..the divide and rule style of Congress politics copied by regional outfits by NCP, SP, RJD etc has sunk deep into our system..it will require couple of decades of rule by a nationalist party to fix the mess…police/judiciary are also not in great shape to act without bias in such cases
