Distressed by constant harassment and death threats to family members by a Muslim boy, an adolescent Hindu girl in UP’s Moradabad committed suicide by hanging herself. The incident took place on 7th June. The relatives of the girl broke the wall of the room with the help of neighbors and took down the corpse of the girl from the noose. The police sent the body for post-mortem. A named FIR has been registered against the accused. Two teams of police have been tasked to find him.

Victim’s father had passed away. She had her mother, a brother and sisters in the family. The relatives told that the victim went inside her room on Thursday and locked it from inside. Family members became suspicious when she didn’t come out for long. When the victim didn’t repond to the knocks on the door, the family members called the neighbors. When they went inside the room after breaking the wall, they found her hanging by the fan through the noose made of her scarf. Doctor was called after the girl’s body was brought down off the noose. The doctor declared the girl dead.

Police was then informed of the incident. Civil line circle officer, Aparna Gupta arrived at the scene along with the police. Upon enquiring the relatives, she found that the girl was being harassed  by a man named Asif who is a resident of Harthala. He used to harass her on the road. She opposed him numerous times but he didn’t desist. The accused threatened of killing her and her family members if she complained to the police. The victim had silenced herself fearing the threats of the accused. It has been alleged that the girl has committed suicide after she was fed up of her constant harassment. Circle officer told that police has also inquired at his house, but he wasn’t found there. He is on the run and soon will be arrested.
