Dreaded criminal gang ambushes and kills 8 policemen during raid in UP

In a shocking case of criminal audacity, a gang led by notorious history-sheeter Vikas Dubey ambushed and killed 8 members of a police raiding team on 2-3 July night at Bikru village of Kanpur district. The martyred cops included DSPĀ  Devendra Mishra, SIs Shivraj Yadav, Mandhna Singh & Nebu Lal and Constables Sultan Singh, Rahul, Bablu, Jitendra.

Martyred Cops

As per a report in Bhaskar news, the incident happened at 1 AM when the police team had gone for a raid at the ancestral village of dreaded criminal Vikas Dubey over an attempt to murder case. As the police team reached the village, they were forced to stop and alight from their vehicle as the criminals had blocked their path with aĀ JCB machine. When the police team proceeded on foot, the criminals surrounded them and started firing at them from rooftops.

The police team on ground being at a disadvantage, suffered heavy losses before they could retaliate. While 8 cops lost their lives, 5 more are wounded with bullet injuries. From the criminal side, only two criminals Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey died. Vikas Dubey and the rest of his gang managed to escape after looting firearms from fallen cops.

The gang leader Vikas Dubey has 60 odd cases against him including those of murder, attempt to murder and extortion etc. He is also accused of killing BJP leader Santosh Shukla and two policemen inside Shivli police station in 2001. He was later freed of the charge due to lack of witnesses. In 2002, under BSP government, Vikas gained further notoriety with his criminal activities allegedly under tutelage of a BSP leader. He also successfully contested panchayat election of Shivrajpur while lodged in jail. Apart from extortion business, he also ran a chain of hotels in Kanpur, Lucknow & Gorakhpur.

CM Yogi in briefing regarding the incident

Considering the ever precarious law & order situation of Uttar Pradesh, this attack comes as major jolt to police and administration. While Yogi Adityanath is known as a strict taskmaster, this incident has challenged his vision of crime-free UP. He has tasked STF with the responsibility of bringing Vikas Dubey to book, and sent the DGP and other senior police officers to Kanpur. Clear orders have been given that no one will leave Kanpur till the time Vikas Dubey is free.

Such a brazen attack on police again demonstrates the need for urgent modernization of our law enforcement mechanism. Police needs better guns, protective gear, intelligence gathering and training. Witness protection programs and improved prosecution standards, and judicial reform for faster completion of trials are also needed to stop criminals abusing our legal system.

SP, Congress dirty tricks departments go into overdrive

Meanwhile, IT cells of various parties are spreading fake news that Vikas Dubey was a BJP leader & close to CM Yogi Adityanath. Many portals have discredited this fake news. The man whose photo is being shared is actually Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader Vikas Dubey.

Viral Fake Picture Linking Yogi with Vikas Dubey

Political analysts have also reported that Congress is planning to prop the criminal Vikas Dubey as a sort of ‘Brahmin hero’ who is being targeted by the Yogi Aditynath govt. So while at the national level the party will criticize the UP govt and BJP over UP’s law & order, within the state a whisper campaign will be launched to try and wean the Brahmin community away from the party keeping the 2022 assembly elections in mind.
