A small-time trader of plastic goods and father of 3, Rajbir Rathod (31), was found dead on Sunday morning by his family after being thrashed the previous night by a local goon Imtiaz & his friends.
Rajbir was a resident of West Vinod Nagar in East Delhi’s Mandawali area which is near Akshardham temple. He was the only earning member of his family and lived with his wife, 3 children, father-mother and others. As per Dharamvir, brother of the deceased, Rajbir returned from his work as a plastic goods seller in the weekly market around 10 PM on Saturday night and went out to eat golgappas. There he got into an argument with Imtiaz – both were drunk.
Imtiaz called his friends and all of them assaulted Rajbir and thrashed him badly. Locals intervened and settled the matter, and no police complaint was lodged. Rajbir returned home and fell asleep. On Sunday, when his family went to wake him up, they found him unconscious.
Police was informed, who rushed him to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where doctors declared him dead. The family believes that Rajbir died because of the thrashing he got from Imtiaz and his friends. Police is waiting for the post mortem report to determine the cause of death, and is investigating the matter.
Imtiaz’s father is a notorious goon in the area.

Incidentally, a few months back, 40-year-old Kanti Prasad was stabbed to death with a screwdriver by his neighbour Mehboob Ali over some ‘minor dispute’, in the very same Mandawali area of East Delhi.
Such murders of Hindus by criminal-minded elements of the minority community are not uncommon in the nation’s capital – other cases which come to mind are Dr. Pankaj Narang of West Delhi, murder of 14-year-old Yogesh Kumar by his Muslim friends, and murder of aspiring air-hostess Riya Gautam by stalker Mohammad Adil. While some of these cases might well be results of personal differences and not have any overt communal motive, the way they have been almost ignored by our MSM stands in stark contrast to non-stop coverage of crimes against ordinary Muslims like Mohammad Akhlak and Junaid Khan.
This double-standard by our media, politicians and other institutions has dangerously skewed the national narrative and created a public mindset that minorities are under incessant attack, whereas the reality is far from this.
