A 19-year-old Hindu girl was rescued by Haryana police from her Muslim captors who had planned to convert her to Islam and sell her off in Allahabad, UP. Wasim, Ashraf and one other person have been arrested by police.

The girl, a resident of Yamunanagar in Haryana, was being raped for the last 6 months by Wasim after he blackmailed her using nude photos taken while she was bathing. Ashraf, a friend of Wasim’s, had also raped the girl. On September 30, the girl was taken by Wasim to Ashraf’s house in Khata Kheri village, Saharanpur where she was held captive amidst the women member’s of Ashraf’s family.

During this period, they took her to court where she was forced to submit that after her father’s death, she had been living with her maternal aunt-uncle and was now moving to Saharanpur (from Yamunanagar) out of her own volition. She somehow managed to call her family and inform them about the place where she was being held captive and about the plans to sell her off to someone in Allahabad.

Her family, who had already lodged a missing person complaint with police, informed Purana Hamida police station in-charge Bhupendra Rana and reached Khata Kheri village. Few locals also gathered upon receiving the information. Police was able to rescue the girl and arrest Wasim, Ashraf and another youth. The women of Ashraf’s family though, who were accomplices in keeping the girl captive, managed to escape.

Police sources informed that Wasim is a resident of Babail village in Meerut. His brother Matloob & family live opposite the girl’s house in Yamunanagar. Wasim and Ashraf had come to Yamunanagar around 2.5 years back, and Wasim used to sell bags for a living.

There are many facets to this crime which will be clearly visible to the observant follower of Hindi news media from this region. Here is what is unfolding in this region centered in West UP, encompassing parts of neighboring Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Rajasthan:

• Sexual grooming / preying of Hindu women by Muslim youth is now a clear social epidemic. This preying can take the form of molestation, rape or love jihad. Shooting compromising videos of Hindu girls and using those to blackmail for sexual exploitation is occurring widely in this belt. Such videos are often also sold illegally for anywhere between Rs. 50-150

• Muslim society encourages or turns a blind eye to these crimes. Involvement of women of the accused’s families has been seen in many cases like this one from Madhya Pradesh, or this one from Karnataka. In case the victim’s family tries to complain to the accused’s family, they are abused and driven away.

• Police is clearly failing to prevent or prosecute such crimes and deal with the required sensitivity and alacrity. Quite often, it is the local Hindu groups like Hindu Yuva Vahini and Bajrang Dal who put pressure on the police & administration before some action is taken; sometimes, these groups are forced to directly intervene to sort out the matter.

• Judiciary is failing abysmally to deter these criminals. While there is a clear need for harsh punishment, including death penalty for crimes like gangrape & forced conversion, the higher courts are routinely seen watering down the quantum of punishment given by lower ‘fast-track’ courts. It is clear that the Lutyens’ left-liberal secular lobby has a dominant presence in the legal fraternity. The massive lobbying by legal stalwarts like Sibal, Indira Jaising etc on behalf of the PFI Love Jihadi who trapped and married Akhila is a case in point.

The stance of the secular political lobby and MSM over this issue is widely known and does not merit any special mention – for them, this never happened.
