Poor Hindu families living in Muslim-majority Panchli Buzurg village in Meerut, UP have been forced to flee their village due to harassment by some locals and apathy of local police, Hindi daily Amar Ujala has reported. The SO Saroorpur doesn’t deem it fit to go to the village and take note of the situation even after getting the information regarding the persecution of these Hindus in the village.
The residents of the village are outraged at the culprits who forced these Hindu families to leave the village on the day of Holi. Nonetheless, some respected members of the village stopped the family, asking them to wait till after Holi before deciding anything.
The fleeing spree of Hindi families from Panchli Buzurg village in Sarurpur panchayat continues to persist. Two brothers of Bhadbooja community were fed up of threats they have been receiving of being framed in a fake case by two villagers, said to be in cahoots with the police. Left with no other choice, they decided to leave the village. They loaded all their luggage in a tractor and left.
The police, despite being informed by the media, didn’t take any action. Neither SHO nor the Area Incharge tried to stop the fleeing villagers, nor did they care enough to go to the village & investigate the incident.
The apathy of the police regarding this matter has fomented fear in the Hindus of the village. When the two brothers were leaving the village, some respected villagers managed to convinced them to stay. They have warned to complaint about the attitude of local police to the IG and the CM. However, SHO Dharmendra Singh has denied any information regarding the case.
