Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha’s head Ranjeet Bacchan was shot dead on Sunday morning in Lucknow, UP while he was walking with his wife and cousin brother. The incident took place near Globe Park in upscale Hazratganj area of the city.
It is believed that a single assailant cloaked in a shawl had come by bike, who then walked up to Bacchan and opened fire. The suspect’s footage has been captured on a CCTV camera in the area, and police has announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 for anyone who can identify him.
Ranjeet Bacchan was shot in the head, and rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injury. His cousin received a bullet wound in the hand.
The deceased’s wife Kalindi said that Ranjeet often received threats on Facebook and WhatsApp, and she has alleged possible involvement of anti-Hindu organisations in the murder. Ranjeet had come from Gorakphur to Lucknow just the day before to help one of his associates get a job.
This shooting comes close on the heels of the 18 Oct, 2019 brutal murder of Hindu Mahasabha leader Kamlesh Tiwari at his Lucknow residence. He was murdered by Islamists as per a plot hatched in Surat, Gujarat. The murderers pretended to be Hindu to strike up a rapport with Tiwari before arriving at his home with a box of sweets actually containing a gun. Kamlesh Tiwari was shot & stabbed to death, and also had his throat slit. Maulana Mohsin Sheikh Salim, Faizan, Rashid Ahmad Pathan and around a dozen others were arrested for this brutal murder, which was carried out because Tiwari allegedly made derogatory comments about Islamic Prophet Muhammad back in 2015 – something which triggered violent nation-wide rallies by Muslim mobs baying for Tiwari’s blood.
Even an ordinary citizen like Madhur Singh popularly known as ‘The Placard Guy’, who writes on social media against Islamic fundamentalists has been threatened with a Kamlesh Tiwari-like fate.
There is a clear pattern of silencing Hindu voices across the country, something which Lutyens’ elites and the country’s English-language media is in complete denial about.
