Hindu Murti Vandalized in Jharkhand, Allegedly by Muslim Villagers

A Hindu murti has been vandalized in Jharkhand’s Gadilong late on Sunday night, allegedly by members of a Muslim marriage party.

As per the report in Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, the murti was established in Bhainsa Sthan of Gadilong, Tandwa police station area of Chatra district. A a marriage function of two girls was organized in the house of Gayasuddin Ansari of Kamta village. Two different baraats (marriage parties) had arrived from Ranchi’s Mudma & Chatra’s Kanhachatti villages to this house.

Villagers allege that the murti was vandalized by members of the marriage party. When people saw the desecrated murti on Monday morning, the news spread like wildfire and agitated locals started demanding arrest of the accused. The nearby Tandwa market was shut down in protest. The village head Shankar Chaurasia and others prevented the matter from getting out of hand.

Police arrived at the scene and detained Gayasuddin Ansari and Ahmed Ansari. After this, the situation calmed down and the market was opened in the second half of the day.

HinduPost Note

We are hearing from ground sources that both parties have settled the matter in exchange of Rs. 25,000. It is not clear if police is going ahead with prosecution of the 2 men who were detained.

Incidentally, a 15-year-old girl was gang raped and burnt alive in Chatra district of Jharkhand on 22nd February – a case which has been almost completely blacked out by mainstream media, especially the English language media.
