Islamist mob attacks Hindu family in Bilhaur’s Makanpur village over social media post

A mob of more than 500 Islamists attacked the house of a Hindu youth in Bilhaur’s Makanpur over an alleged inflammatory social media post and police force from four police stations along with administrative authorities reached the spot to take stock of the situation and placate the mob reports Dainik Jagran.

As per reports, the youth has been taken into custody and a case has been registered against him. In view of the tense situation, a huge police force has also been stationed in the area to ensure that the situation doesn’t get out of hand.

OpIndia has presented a clearer picture of the Hindu family’s over three hours’ ordeal on 18th September 2020 when the mob vandalized their home including the Pooja room, manhandled the aged and womenfolk of the family, and did not spare even the children.

According to the OpIndia report, Alok Gupta’s Class 4 child inadvertently posted the supposed inflammatory post on Gupta’s FB (Facebook) account which angered the Islamists who attacked his house and even looted valuables including cash and jewelry. In the ensuing violence, Gupta was seriously injured and his parents including his paralyzed father had a narrow escape with slight injuries.

Apart from Alok, some local journalists and youth who were capturing the Jihadi mob’s violence and sloganeering were also assaulted. Kanpur based journalist Luvkush Katiyar was so grievously injured by the mob that he has been admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of a Kanpur hospital.

Bajrang Dal State Secretary Ramji Tiwari has complained in writing to CM Yogi Adityanath regarding the fragile situation of Hindus who are minorities in the area in addition to apprising him of the situation. Tiwari has also stated that not only the Guptas but several other Hindu families of the area have also been so severely affected by the incident that most have even decided to leave Makanpur.

Tiwari has asked the CM to take cognizance of the entire incident and threat to Hindu families as well as ensure that the perpetrators are dealt with strictly. It must be mentioned here that the Bilhaur Police Station has registered an FIR against 58 Islamists who were involved in the arson and violence.

The family in its statement has mentioned how a huge mob gathered outside their home at around 8 in the morning and ransacked their house. They even vandalized the vigrahas of the deities kept in the Pooja room. Alok’s mother has said that she and her paralyzed husband were pushed away by the irate mob which then mercilessly beat up their son.

She rued that during the entire episode policemen stood by as mute spectators and did not step in to help till their son had received severe injuries. Another member of the family lamented the fact that despite senior police officials such as Bilhaur station officer and inspector among others being present at the site, the family received no help from any of them while instead Alok was forced to spend a few days in police custody.

It has been further learned that Bilhaur PS SHO Santosh Kumar Awasthi and Makanpur PS in-charge Ved Prakash Mishra have been transferred as they supposedly tried to hinder investigations in an attempt to save those who perpetrated the attack.

As of now, sections of the IT (Information Technology) Act have been evoked to book Alok Gupta while the Islamists who attacked the former have been released on bail while further investigations are on.
