Mathrubhumi, a leading Malayalam daily in Kerala, put out an apology on its front page today after it printed a purportedly offensive comment on the founder of Islam in its Kozhikode and Thrissur editions on Wednesday. The apology came after enraged Muslim organisations held protests outside the newspaper’s offices. Radical Islamist group Popular Front of India (PFI) said the comment “hurt the sentiments of the community.”
The newspaper in its apology said the comment, that was picked up from social media, was added as a reaction to the speech made by Justice Kemal Pasha on the topic ‘Law against domestic abuse’ at a seminar. The judge also faces heat from Muslim scholars for saying that Muslim women faced discrimination under the Muslim personal law.

Grovelling apology by Left-Leaning Newspaper
“We understand the comments hurt the sentiments of followers. We apologise deeply for the error,” the newspaper said. Mathrubhumi also confirmed that it would take appropriate action against those responsible for the ‘careless’ mistake. The newspaper management additionally requested the state government to take appropriate action against such comments that are posted on social media.
Silence of the Intolerance Brigade
Not one of our Lutyens intellectuals who talk 24×7 about the alleged intolerance and fascism unleashed by the NDA Government, have a word to say about this real, dangerous and blatantly anti-national intolerance. Has Kerala now turned into a full-fledged Sharia zone, where one can’t even talk about reforming Muslim personal law – a topic well within the bounds of the Constitution? Should we pardon these ‘minority’ activists also for sloganeering ‘Pakistan Zindabad’, as their freedom of expression?
While Manusmriti is being burnt in JNU and Hindu-bashing events like ‘Mahishasur Day’ are held, will the ‘brave & revolutionary’ students and their professors at JNU fight for the freedom to criticize Islam as well?
Rise of Islamo-fascism in Kerala
This latest incident of Islamist fury is not new to Kerala, which has seen a gradual build up of extremist Islamist elements slowly tightening their grip over the Kerala Muslim population.
Dec 2015: Kerala Muslim Rafeeque’s studio burnt after he slams the burka on a WhatsApp Islamic forum
Nov 2015: Kerala Muslim woman journalist Rajeena threatened, FB account blocked after post on child sexual abuse in a Madarassa
Sept 2010: Kerala Muslim girl gets death threats for refusing burqa, wearing jeans

Kerala is very much under the grip of extremist Islamist elements; and they are getting militant by the day. Left unchecked, there is potential for serious trouble and a catastrophic social collapse. The Communists, and Left Democratic Front has always taken a pro-Islamist stance; carving a district called Malappuram, for Muslims, is a case in point. As for the United Democratic Front, it is a Muslim League-owned government! The print and visual media is aggravating the problem with their “incomplete” reporting. There are numerous Hindu-muslim riots happening in the state, but the media reports them as “political” skirmishes.
The fact is – Indian media is impotent; the seven decades, post-independence, the political eunuchs of the country has castrated the media. In the Indian media reports, reference to to muslims, as a party to riots, is always as “a minority community”; Indian media never had the courage to call a horse a horse! Not too long ago, the National flag at the Calicut Airport was taken down by some of the “patriotic” Muslim League members, and replaced with a Muslim League flag – a seditious activity demanding shoot-at-sight – and the Kerala government did precious little about it! Wake up calls are coming at regular intervals, and getting louder by the day!
