Kerala BJP chief booked for sharing the video of communists celebrating murder of RSS cadre

Ever since LDF grabbed the ruling power from the hands of UDF in 2016, Kerala has witnessed a number of barbaric acts and murders. A number of RSS and BJP karyakarthas have been murdered and 23-year-old Kollam BJP councillor Smt. Kokila died in mysterious circumstances, raising questions over the law and order situation in the state. People have even questioned the silence of the central government over these murders.

Recently, an RSS karyakartha Choorakkad Biju was hacked to death, allegedly by CPI(M) activists, at Payyanur town in Kerala CM Pinari Vijayan’s home district Kannur. Police said Biju and his friend Pandaravalappil Rajesh were travelling on a motorcycle when they were knocked down by an Innova car. A gang alighted from the car and hacked him on the neck. Based on a complaint filed by Rajesh, the police registered a case against seven CPM workers.

Following this incident, Kerala BJP President Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan tweeted a video which showed communists of Kannur celebrating the murder of Biju. He further asserted that such merry making was occurring at 14 places in total. The tweet went viral with various politicians and common people expressing their shock over the murder and the reaction of communist cadres.

In response to this, Kerala Police have registered a case against Kummanam for allegedly spreading a fake video on social media. He has been booked under IPC Section 153(a) (promoting enmity between groups) on a petition by Muhammed Siraj, district secretary of Students Federation of India (SFI). Siraj had also sent a petition to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking action against the BJP leader for spreading a fake video. The complaint alleged that the video was a part of political conspiracy. Following the complaint, DGP T.P. Senkumar had assigned Kannur SP Siva Vikram to check the authenticity of the footage.

While the investigation of the murder has been appointed to the Dy SP, the probe into details of the tweet has been appointed to the SP. Speaking about the initiation of probe and filing of complaint against him, Kummanam on Tuesday reiterated that the video that showed CPM workers celebrating the murder of Biju was authentic and he is ready to go to jail if proven wrong.

It must be noted that Kummanam, who has been a strong voice of Hindus in Kerala, is not a new addition in the target list of communist goons. There was an attack on him by communists in the 1980s, which he fortunately survived after the attackers left the spot thinking that he was dead. While the communist leaders have always expressed their concern about rising intolerance in the country, their hypocrisy is exposed by the fact that a state ruled by them is witnessing intolerance at its peak.
