Kerala Police on Monday launched a detailed probe into a forceful religious conversion incident after a young Hindu woman approached police against her husband and mother-in-law alleging physical and mental torture for refusing to accede to their wish to embrace Islam.

Based on the complaint lodged by the woman from Mukkam, police arrested her husband identified as Ahmed Nabeel, 24, and his mother Ramla, 66, of Chennamangallur. Mukkam Sub Inspector Abhilash K P said a detailed probe was on in connection with the incident and the arrested were remanded to judicial custody.

In her complaint, the woman alleged mental and physical torture from her husband and mother-in-law for resisting the conversion bid. An investigation was also on to ascertain the role of an Islamic study centre at Manjeri where the woman was taken by her husband and mother-in-law for conversion.

Police said the woman, who belonged to Hindu community, married Ahmed after they fell in love. The two registered their marriage in February 2017. In her complaint, she also alleged torture by her husband’s relatives.

The incident came to light when the woman informed about the issue to her parents who in turn sought the help of the police. Police registered a case under IPC Sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement).

Recently, another Hindu woman from Gujarat had lodged a similar case against her husband and in-laws for forcing her to change her faith and eat meat/fish against her wishes.

The Islamic study centre at Manjeri in Mallapuram district, referred to in the article above where the woman was taken for conversion, is most likely the notorious ‘Sathya Sarani’. HinduPost had covered this radical Salafist theological centre for neo converts in an earlier article about a Hindu ex-serviceman’s desperate attempts to save his daughter from the clutches of these Islamists. ‘Sathya Sarani’ is also facing a probe ordered by Kerala High Court into its antecedents. Why the probe is taking so long is not clear, as Sathya Sarani is up-front about their Islamofascist agenda, as their website clearly shows –

Sathya Sarani is believed to be run by Popular Front of India (PFI), a dangerous socio-political Islamofascist organization which originated in Kerala but has now established deep roots across Bharat, with its headquarter in Delhi. It first shot into prominence when in 2010 PFI members hacked off the hand of  a professor whom they accused of  “insulting the prophet” in a question paper. Last year, PFI activists had tried to prevent a protest march by Hindu Aikya Vedi who were demanding closure of Sathya Sarani and other illegal proselytisation centres.

After the attack on Prof. T.J. Joseph, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had said that PFI was aiming to convert Kerala into a Muslim-majority state in the next 20 years. In 2012, the Government of Kerala informed the High Court that PFI is “nothing but a resurrection of the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in another form.”

There have been recent reports indicating close links between Congress Government in Karnataka & PFI. Last year, the Congress Government in Karnataka dropped criminal cases against 1,600 PFI and KFD (Karnataka Forum for Dignity) activists, who were booked for rioting in different parts of the state in recent years. A few months later, a photo emerged showing minister for fisheries and youth affairs & Congress leader Abhaychandra Jain on stage with Mohammed Sharif Todar, the main accused in the murder of cow protection activist Prashant Poojary. Poojary’s family also alleged that the minister was involved in Prashant’s murder. Jain played a key role in an electoral understanding between the Congress and the PFI’s political wing, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), during June 2015 gram Panchayat elections in Karnataka.

Recently, PFI had made an attempt to trap one Shruti from Kannore in Love Jihad. However, their efforts failed when Shruti’s parent contacted the Hindu Helpline run by VHP. Members of Hindu Helpline along with the police were able to rescue Shruti from a few PFI men.

After this incident, PFI put up posters giving an open challenge to the police that they will be kidnapping Shruti, and the police can try and do whatever they wanted to.

These are the real issues that the country is grappling with, while Lutyens’ journalists and their foreign-based chums worry about rising ‘food fascism‘ under Modi/Yogi rule.
