Minor Girl Gangraped in Haridwar After Being Lured to Sufi Fair by Muslim ‘Friend’ Pretending to be Hindu

A 15-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men in a guesthouse at Piran Kaliyar in Haridwar on Friday night, said police. The girl had gone to the annual fair at the Sufi shrine with her friend Salman, whom she knew as Rajesh. Once at the shrine, Salman called five of his friends and they took the girl to a guesthouse where three of them took turns to rape her. A case was registered at Ranipur police station against the six men. The girl was sent to district hospital for medical examination.

As the news spread, Hindu outfits reached the police station here and demanded strict action against all the accused, who are on the run.

According to the girl’s parents, their daughter had gone out for tuitions on Friday evening. On the way, she met Salman, who lured her to accompany him to Piran Kaliyar. After committing the crime, all the accused fled, leaving the girl alone in the guesthouse. She somehow managed to reach her home on Saturday morning and narrated her ordeal to her parents.

Her parents then went to the Ranipur police station to file a case. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Krishan Kumar V K said, “A case has been registered against six accused. Two of them have been identified as Salman and Sajid. We are trying to identify the other four accused. According to the girl, three of the men raped her while the other three were present in the room but did not save her. The girl knew only Salman and Sajid. A team has been deployed to nab the accused, who are on the run.”

Uttarakhand – New Safe Haven For Islamists?

Uttarakhand is fast emerging as another hub of such Islamist sexual grooming gangs, also popularly known as Love Jihadis in Bharat. Recently, 57-year-old  Afzal Qureshi, who raped a 13-year-old girl inside his video game parlour in south Mumbai and circulated a video of the rape among his friends, tried to escape arrest by hiding in a mosque in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand.

Here are some other similar cases reported from Uttarakhand that we have tracked –

Nov, 2017 – Hindu Girl from Haridwar Exploited by Already Married Muslim Man, Assaulted & Poisoned by Man & His Family

July, 2017 – Bajrang Dal saves minor Hindu girl being kidnapped by Muslim teacher in Haldwani

Sept, 2017 – 7 Muslim Youth Arrested in Uttarakhand for Sending Obscene Facebook Comments to Girls

Muslims account for 14% of Uttarakhand’s population. But the southernmost district of Haridwar, adjacent to communally volatile West UP districts like Bijnore, Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar, has witnessed rapid growth of Muslim population since Independence. Today, Haridwar along with seven districts in northwest UP forms a pocket which has more than 41% Muslims (as per Census 2011). Muslim % in this pocket has grown by 9% in four decades since 1971.

Given the fast-changing demographics of this region, such crimes against Hindus and calls for a sharia state, even by those who profess to practise ‘moderate’ Sufism, are bound to increase.
