Minor Hindu boy murder – parents allege ‘sacrificed’ in mosque, family relocates out of Bihar

The chilling murder of a 15-year-old boy in a Bihar village, and the ordeal faced by his family while seeking justice, highlights just how unsafe and helpless Hindus are today under the secular system of governance even when a so-called ‘communal’ party is in power.

On the afternoon of March 28, Rohit Jaiswal was asked to come out to play by some boys who lived in the same village of Bela Dih, Kateya, district Gopalganj. However, he never returned home and the next morning the frantic parents found his dead body in a nearby river. The parents alleged that their son had been murdered by the same ‘friends’ who had taken him the previous day. Police took Rohit’s body away for post-mortem and arrested 4 accused. This news was reported was Dainik Jagran on 30 March.

A Dainik Bhaskar report dated 23 April informs us that out of 6 accused who were named by Rohit’s father, Rajesh, 4 had been arrested and 2 – Nizam Ansari and Wasir Ansari – were still absconding. On the night of 21 April, police received information that Nizam Ansari had come to his home and he too was arrested after a police raid.

Around this time, the victim’s family started receiving death threats from the Muslim neighbours who had been accused by them. Rohit’s parents made repeated trips to the Kateya police station to ask for protection and arrest of the absconding accused. On one such occasion SHO Ashwini Kumar Tiwari hurled vile abuses at the mother and told the family to relocate if they were worried about their safety. This shameful episode was captured on video.

Now, OpIndia has got in touch with the victim’s family and unearthed some disturbing details – the parents believe that Rohit was taken to a newly built mosque in the village where he was ‘sacrificed’ as per a local Muslim belief that this would make the mosque more powerful. Rohit was first strangled by adult guardians of the Muslim children who took him to play, before his body was dumped in the river.

The parents have alleged that police was reluctant to lodge a proper FIR, and tried to coax the parents into diluting the case as one of accidental death in order to get a cash compensation of Rs. 8 lakh from the government. When the parents refused and demanded justice for their dead son, they were brutally beaten up by the police. Rohit’s father said that two men of the village – Siddha Ansari and Raza Ansari -were threatening him to withdraw the case.

The attitude of the police and death threats against the family made the situation so unbearably hostile for them that they were forced to relocate to another place in Uttar Pradesh.

When OpIndia tried to reach out to the police, they were stonewalled at all levels.

Only a full investigation will unearth the complete facts in this case. But what Rohit’s hapless parents and sister have narrated to OpIndia is entirely plausible because even HinduPost has discovered such chilling tales of police apathy and helplessness of poor Hindus in the face of crimes by Muslims.

In March 2018, we had spoken to the father of a 15-year-old girl who was gang-raped by 3 Muslim brothers and then set on fire in a Jharkhand village. For 5 hours police failed to get her proper treatment. Finally, the poor father arranged for a private vehicle, but his daughter died on the way to hospital. The family told us how the area ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) Anashwar Singh tried to water down the case to protect the accused. Only a few VHP and Bajrang Dal activists came to the family’s aid. But ultimately the case died out – reduced to just another statistic. No one campaigned for justice, no one held placards, English-language MSM didn’t even think it worthy of publishing on the front pages.
