Muslim ex-boyfriend slashes throat of Hindu girl in WB

A Hindu college student in West Bengal was brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend Asgar Mullick for ending the relationship, report Bengali news outlet Sangbad Pratidin.

Quoting from a report in English-language news portal Bharat Katha –

“A third year student of Sarat Centenary College in Dhaniakhali, Soumi Pal is battling for her life with serious throat injuries at a Kolkata hospital during the past two days.

She was brurally attacked with sharp weapon by her former boy friend Asgar Mullick who is a mill worker. Asgar took revenge as Soumi wanted to end their relationship.

He suddenly entered the house of Soumi at night and pounced on her with a dagger. Asgar repeatedly stabbed Soumi around her throat. She fell in a pool of blood in her room. The Muslim youth fled.

The girl was initially taken to a local hospital from where she was shifted to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. She is admitted with 16 stitches around her throat.

Dhaniakhali police station is looking for Asgar following a complaint by the girl’s family.”

Devdutta Maji, President of human rights organisation SinghaBahini, said that such crimes targeting Hindu girls, colloquially known as Love Jihad, are occurring with increasing frequency in West Bengal and the police seems to be under directions from  higher-ups to play down the gravity of these crimes. Just few days back, the charred and mutilated body of a minor Hindu girl, gang-raped and murdered by her Muslim friend and two others, was recovered in the state.
