Two SDPI-PFI activists involved in forced conversions arrested for attack on Hindu youth

It is a well-known fact in Kerala that the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), political wing of terror-accused Islamist organisation PFI, prowls the underbelly of cities looking for easy targets from among Hindus and Christians to convert to Islam. It is also a shameful truth that both the local police and their political masters tend to turn a blind eye to such incidents.

The police don’t seem to care and are also wary of these criminals who openly intimidate them. Conversions are done both overtly and covertly. Rewards and remunerations are offered as intimidation by these religious zealots. The sources of finance for such activities of brainwashing and grooming became clear when many Keralites left covertly to join ISIS in Syria, Afghanistan, and other terrorist hotbeds, during the terrorist outfit’s heydays.

Aluva is a known hotbed of the SDPI & PFI conversion mafia. Around this time in 2018, 20 such criminals were rounded up near their hiding spots in Aluva. These arrests took place after the cold-blooded murder in the infamous Abhimanyu case where a student was stabbed to death. The incident happened inside the famous Maharaja`s College where Abhimanyu was studying.  All those arrested belonged to Campus Front, the student wing of the SDPI.

A similar incident happened recently at Kuttamassery near Aluva. A youth named Rajith was attacked by a group of SDPI criminals. The SDPI tried to coerce a family of poor Hindus including a mother and her three girls to accept Islam. Rajith had intervened to oppose their attempts to convert the Hindu family following which he was attacked on the 15th of June by SDPI goons. SDPI and Popular Front activists used deadly weapons to attack Rajith near the Aluva Paravur settlement school.

When locals started to gather in numbers the SDPI goons were forced to change their plans and fled the scene. An injured Rajith was admitted to hospital. As per the information available, the woman and her children were being continuously hounded by the SDPI in an attempt to coerce them to accept Islam. How many other Hindu families are being similarly threatened is not known, but the brazenness with which such criminals operate is alarming.

The police initially didn’t take any action against the culprits and took no interest in pursuing the case. However, various Hindu organizations stepped in and voiced their concerns by marching against the police inaction. Rajith was planning to approach the High Court of Kerala to pray that the inquiry be entrusted to the NIA.

A march to the local Superintendent of Police office was also planned. All this led the local police to spring into action. After going through the CCTV images from a flat where the attack had taken place the police identified the suspects.

Two of the suspects taken into custody have been identified as Shafiq, son of Hassanar, resident of Marampilly Parackal House, and Faisal, son of Haidarali, resident of Elamana House. Both are SDPI cadre, while others are on the run and yet to be arrested.
