River Phalguni poisoning kills thousands of fish; Mohammad Irshad and Mohammad Haneef arrested

An alarm went off triggering massive fear among locals when hundreds of dead fish were seen afloat in river Phalguni flowing through Dadelu in Nadthikallu, Karnataka a few weeks back. As the entire area started reeking of a strong stench of dead fish, it became apparent that the water body, which serves as the only source of freshwater to the locals in that area and was also the main water source for hundreds of cattle, animals, and birds, had been poisoned.

The fear of miscellaneous diseases spreading through rotting fishes, and dead animals that might have perished by drinking this water also showed up. Given that in this period of lockdown and the existent Covid situation, availing medical help was a challenge, exacerbated people’s concerns. However, a massive disaster was successfully averted as people have not suffered due to the poisoning of the river water.

Two Muslim youths named Mohammad Irshad and Mohammad Haneef have been arrested by the local police in connection with the poisoning of the drinking water source.  Investigations are underway to reveal the motive behind their crime that could have killed dozens of people. Agitated villagers are demanding a detailed investigation into this crime and a team has been constituted under Venur SI Lolakshara to probe further into the incident.

Endangering masses by contaminating edibles or using bio-terror is nothing new for Islamist radicals. During the Covid crisis, we have witnessed in videos how fruits were spat on, and currency notes were licked. Abdul Nazim Sheikh Mahmood was arrested from Amravati by Maharashtra Police after a TikTok video of him spitting on loaves of bread in a bakery went viral on the internet.

In June 2019, an ISIS-inspired plan to mass poison Hindus was plotted by Islamic terrorists. The plan was to poison the Mahaprasad of the ancient Mumbreshwar Mahadev temple in Thane district on a day when the prasad would be consumed by at least 40,000 devotees. The Maharashtra ATS busted the ISIS module led by one Talha Potrick just in time.

In 2017, Kerala Police issued an intelligence alert about Islamic State terrorists planning to poison drinking water & food served to Sabarimala pilgrims at railway stations and other places.

Liberals get offended if we point it out, but one cannot take chances with life and health to save secularism in a society, which in itself is not secular when it comes to showing respect towards Hindu lives and values.
