WB tribal woman sold to Kashmir brothel rescued

A deceived tribal woman has been rescued by police after spending six months at a brothel in Kashmir. She returned to her home at Dakshin Ranigachi village under Haroa block in Basirhat subdivision of North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, reports OneIndia.

The 29-year-old married woman worked as a domestic help in a multi-storied apartment at Rajarhat-New Town area in Kolkata. There she got acquainted with a youth named Azhar Molla. He lured her with a fake job opportunity to first sell her in Delhi and then in Kashmir for one lakh rupees.

The family members of the victim filed a complaint with Haroa Police station. Asianet News reports  that at first police did not take the issue seriously. Later the family also approached a human rights organization to help locate the missing woman. Members of this organisation started searching for the victim and approached the police again.

Human trafficker Azhar Molla was nabbed by police, and upon interrogation he revealed that the tribal woman was sold to a brothel in Kashmir. Haroa Police went to Kashmir and rescued the victim in a joint operation with Kashmir Police. The woman was later taken to Basirhat sub-divisional court to record her statement.
