The adviser and consultant to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, VK Jain, has admitted that he witnessed the assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash by the AAP MLAs and also said that the CM and his deputy were present and kept quiet during the attack, India Today has reported –
“Counsel for Delhi Police Atul Shrivastava handed over VK Jains statement which was recorded before a magistrate. The testimony jolted Aam Aadmi Party leaders who in a press briefing alleged that Jain was coerced to give the statement.
..Shrivastava also submitted before the court that the chief secretary was made to sit between MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal, who threatened him to sign a document for release of funds for an advertisement related to the AAP governments achievements related to corruption and education.
Prakash was then physically assaulted by the legislators, the police counsel said. The prosecutor also argued that the injuries received by the chief secretary show that the offence under section 308 of IPC attempt to commit culpable homicide was also committed by the accused.
The police even levelled allegations of tampering with available security camera footage. The prosecutor said officials needed time to go through the CCTV videos of the place where the meeting was going on and would need at least 10 hours for that.
…Both AAP lawmakers arrested for the alleged assault of Prakash were sent to 14-day judicial custody in Tihar Jail by the court which reserved its order on their bail pleas for Friday.
While the India Today article goes on to talk about an ‘incessant power struggle’ between AAP and Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (appointed by Centre) and bureaucrats, it fails to mention that the unique power-sharing arrangement in Delhi has been in place since 1993. The 4 Governments that Delhi had before AAP came to power never saw such massive friction between the Delhi Govt & LG-bureaucrats. AAP’s conspiratorial & accusatory style has targeted both ex-LG Najeeb Jung (appointed during UPA-2, and no fan of the Modi Government) and present LG Anil Baijal.
Indeed, all the liberal media outlets have thus far mounted a bizarre defence of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP over this ignominious episode, as we outlined in an earlier article.
But the Adviser to CM’s confession confirming that the 2 AAP MLAs did actually assault the Chief Secretary should make this a water-tight case and expose AAP for the den of scheming, crooked thugs the party has become.
