Bangladesh Police cancels National Hindu Conference under Islamist pressure

Bangladesh Police has foiled the national conference of ‘Bangladesh Jatiyo Hindu Mohajote’ (Bangladesh National Grand Alliance Of Hindus) on Friday in Dhaka. Hindu Mohajote leaders reacted angrily at the Sheikh Hasina government over the cancellation, reports Bengali-language daily Dainik Jugasankha .

The report further says that the organisation has formed a new committee to arrange a conference at another venue after police withdrew permission for the conference at Bangladesh liberation war hero Sadek Hossain Khoka community center.

Police didn’t allow the conference as thousands of Islamist political activists held daily rallies and processions in and around Dhaka protesting against Bharatiya PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bangladesh and vowed to resist him in the country.

A Muslim youth was arrested from Mymensingh district for series of derogatory Facebook posts against Narendra Modi & General Secretary of Bangladesh’s ruling party Awami League cum Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, MP.

Secretary-General of Bangladesh Jatiyo Hindu Mohajote, Advocate Gobinda Chandra Pramanik reacted angrily to the police cancellation without any rational reason. He said, “3337 people from different parts of the country were gathered for the conference. But Police has foiled it. It is very sad. We have declared new committee to decide another venue. Hindu leaders who arrived from across the country in the conference delivered their speeches.”

The new committee consists of Advocate Bidhan Bihari Goswami as president, executive president Advocate Dinabandhu Roy, senior vice- president Dr. Achintya Kumar Mondal, Pradip Kumar Paul & Subhas Saha, Secretary-General Gobinda Chandra Pramanik (reelected), Chief Coordinator Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharjee, Senior joint secretary general Anil Banik, Joint secretary Manisankar Mondal & Sujan Dey, Organizing secretary Professor Subrata Das, Financial secretary Pradip Majumder, and Advocate Pratibha Bagchi as secretary for women affairs for 2020-2022 period. Vacant posts will be filled up later and announced by arranging a press conference.

The newly elected leaders vowed to earn the rights of Hindu people and work for Hindu awakening on the basis of honesty & established social norms.
