DMK Chief MK Stalin misleads public on farm laws during rally

DMK leader MK Stalin has been touring the state in the run-up to the upcoming assembly elections. In one of his recent rallies, he was seen blatantly misleading the public with regards to the recently passed farm laws.

In his speech, Stalin says the Central BJP government has brought in three farm laws that’ll take away all rights from the farmers & help corporates.

He says the laws say:

1) Henceforth, farmers will not be allowed to carry out farming in their fields. Even if they are allowed to farm then they won’t be able to sell the produce at a price they want.

2) Farmer’s markets or mandis will be shut down totally. It is going to be transferred into the hands of private players like Adani.

Stalin further says that the Modi government has brought about such misfortune on the farmers where they won’t be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor and hard work. According to Stalin, while the farms will put in the hard work, it is the corporates who will reap the benefit. At a time when politically motivated protests by farmers of Punjab are raging at Singhu, the speech by Stalin is nothing but a politically motivated attempt to stoke emotions.

Contrary to what Stalin claims farmers cannot just farm the way they wish but also sell their produce at a price of their choice to a buyer of their choice as well.

Neither the farmlands nor the mandis are going to be given to corporates. Farmer’s markets aren’t going to be shut but farmers will now be able to choose to sell to those who pay a higher price.

These farm laws are actually beneficial for real farmers who have been suffering at the hands of rich landowners & farmers as well as the middlemen unlike what Stalin would like people to believe just to suit his narrow political agenda.
