Dravidian Islamist leader issues death threats to PM & HM over Article 370 abrogation & Triple Talaq bill

In recent times radical Islam has time & again raised its ugly head in the southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu has been affected by ‘Dravidianism’, ‘Islamisation’ & ‘Evangelism’, a threatening combination.

It appears that abrogation of Article 370 has not gone down well with both Periyarists and Islamists who have been giving out statements that are not just provocative, but also devoid of merit. Recently, Saravanan, a lawyer & spokesperson of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) – an ally of Congress, declared on a national channel during a prime time debate that “Jammu & Kashmir has never been a part of India”. While this statement may be brushed off as one made out of ignorance, the more serious threat comes from TMMK’s functionary Sharif.

Sharif, while speaking in a public meeting conducted by TMMK on Triple Talaq, UAPA-NIA and abrogation of Article 370, said that ideologically they are very much opposed to RSS-BJP but that is not the only reason why his party is opposed to these recent bills passed by Modi government at the centre.

Alleging that he is speaking for the “welfare of Indians in general”, he said that had the party been just speaking for “Muslim interests” they would have beheaded PM Modi as soon as the Triple Talaq bill was passed.

He said that HM Amit Shah and PM Modi would not be alive now if they were a party thinking only about Muslim welfare, and neither would the Parliament have been in existence. The funniest part is, after issuing all these threats he adds that “we respect the law of the land and constitution of India”.

Further on he says that they are being patient despite having lost their ‘rights’, and they would turn this fight for their ‘rights’ into a revolution in the coming days. He says that “no law is bigger than Allah’s law” and by way of passing the Triple Talaq bill, the Government has interfered with Islamic Shariat law.

This certainly qualifies as hate speech and it has become far too frequent that outfits such as TMMK use freedom of speech and expression to issue threats directly or indirectly. Nowhere in the world would such death threats to the country’s Prime Minister and Home Minister as well as threatening to blow up Parliament be brushed aside as insignificant.

It is interesting to note that this so-called protest meet received support from DMK, VCK, CPM, CPI (all allies of Congress) and the Christian Goodwill Movement.

TMMK is a break-away faction of the terrorist organisation Al Ummah founded by MH Jawahirullah in 1995. Jawahirullah then went on to form the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MNMK), a new political party under the TMMK umbrella formed in 2009 after amendment to TMMK’s bylaws.

TMMK activists and its leaders MH Jawahirullah and its treasurer SM Bakkar were arrested for their involvement in the 1998 Coimbatore bombings and the communal riots that followed soon after. MNMK (political face of TMMK and Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamaat) allied with AIADMK in 2011 and won two assembly seats helping J. Jayalalitha return to power.

Their proximity to power gave these jihadis a free hand in Tamil Nadu and Jawahirullah took maximum advantage of it. Jawahirullah and his jihadi cronies went on a killing spree against Hindu activists, mostly belonging to Hindu Munnani or Sangh-affiliated outfits, for about two years from 2011 to 2013 culminating in the murder of Auditor Ramesh, which finally invited public outrage and forced the TN government to rein in the jihadis. The TMMK has allied with both AIADMK and DMK and is a supporter of DMK at present.
