Hate Speech against Hindus by TN Bishop Ezra Sargunam

Ezra Sargunam, an evangelist and church planter, apart from being a Bishop in the Chennai diocese of the Evangelical Church of India, is a well known Hindu hater. While his association with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its supremos is widely known, his friendliness with the mother organisation of the political party, Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) is not that popular. His hate speeches reveal where anti-Hindu DK gains its illogical anti-Hindu theories from.

Following is the translation of some of his hate speeches.

‘Punch Hindus in the face & tell them there is no Hindu religion’

In a public event, Bishop Ezra Sargunam said  –

“There is no religion in the name of Hindu. Hundred years ago among the census committee members there was a big confusion as to whom should be classified as Hindus. There was one Sundaram Iyengar in the committee. The committee decided that those who were not Christians, Muslims, Sikhs or Buddhists would be identified as Hindus.

The man Sundaram Iyengar in the committee said that they won’t accept scheduled castes and tribes; that they are not Hindus. That only those who accept the Brahmins who do puja, good Brahmins – I don’t know whether there are bad Brahmins as well – he told that only those who accept the good Brahmins are Hindus.

After deducting everyone like this, they said 50% of the country’s population were not Hindus. But now for election they are all Hinduised. Hindu Dharma is not a religion. It is a very artificial religion. There is no religion as Hindu Dharma. Take this challenge and tell everyone. Take many points, truths from Dr. Babu Varghese and tell them.

Tell them that there is no such religion; that they are fooling the world. If you are not telling then I suggest that you punch them a couple of times in the face. It’s okay. Say ‘God please forgive me, I got angry’ and punch them in the face and bleed them. Ask for forgiveness later and continue your work.”

‘No Hindu king ruled properly, Akbar’s reign must come back’

In another public speech, he said –

“Two Maha Chakravarthis ruled Bharat. One was Akbar and the other was Ashoka Chakravarthi; One followed Islam and the other followed Buddhism. Brahmins didn’t let even a single Hindu king rule properly. They had different justice system for Brahmins and non-Brahmins and didn’t let any Hindu king rule well. But Islam brought a big change. They ruled for a 1000 years.

So what I’m saying today is that such a great personality, Akbar’s reign must be brought back. This country will prosper only if Akbar’s rule returns. Akbar was a great humanitarian who treated people from all religions equally, loved them and cherished not the religion but humanism. I’m recording here that his rule must return.”

‘Diwali celebrates Aryan victory over Dravidian – it is a festival of darkness’

In an interview to Imayam TV channel, the reporter asks Ezra Sargunam “While you blame Modi for not respecting Christmas or wishing for Bakra-Eid, Hindu Munnani asks ‘why Karunanidhi goes to Christmas celebration, has the iftar porridge (nombu kanji) but doesn’t wish for Diwali. If he is an atheist he shouldn’t go to any religious events. Why the partiality towards Diwali?’, they ask Kalaignar (Karunanidhi).”

He answers, “One should look at the root, that is the basis, of a festival. There is Pongal. All of us celebrate it. It is a Tamil festival. It is a festival that celebrates our ethnicity. But Diwali is a festival that celebrates Aryan victory over Dravidian. The day on which an Aryan killed Narakasuran. Diwali is a day on which they say an evil guy was destroyed. There is no relation between Diwali and diyas. Now gradually everyone has started saying that it’s a festival of light, even in foreign countries – which is an eyewash. They don’t know anything about this festival. Ours is a culture that changes everyday. It’s basis is something; but they propagate something different. Diwali is not at all a festival of light. It is a festival of darkness. How can one jaati celebrate the festival of another jaati?”

In a conversation in Jebam TV, an evangelical channel, he proudly says that he was beaten blue and black for distributing tracts (pamphlets) in Kumbh Mela in Allahabad. “Those ignorant people taking a dip at the Ganga used to tear the paper 50 years ago. Their mental setup was different then.”

Incidentally, Ezra Sargunam’s parent body, Evangelical Church of India is registered as an FCRA-NGO and received a massive Rs. 7.7 Crore fund inflow from abroad (mostly USA) in 2017-18

A complaint has been registered in Delhi against Ezra Sargunam for advocating violence against Hindus – he had said they should be punched in the face to make them realise that Hindu Dharma isn’t a religion. Delhi based lawyer Vibhor Anand filed the complaint and it was registered by Delhi Police 24 days after being filed.
