Kashmiriyat Is Alive And Well

I am speaking of the “true” Kashmiriyat.  Not the “filmi” kind which is as real as the rabbit on the face of the moon.  The true Kashmiriyat is that which allowed the total purge of 5% of the population — all Hindu — of Kashmir in 1989.  The true Kashmiriyat that allowed tens of massacres of Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs through the 90’s and into 2000.  The true Kashmiriyat that shows up around every army vehicle and showers them with “affection” (Kashmiri style) by pelting stones at them.

The true Kashmiriyat that cleverly uses every opportunity it can to fleece money from the Bharatiya state, while hating it with all their heart. The true Kashmiriyat that set the valley ablaze with protests when a few acres of unused forest land was to be given temporarily to the Amarnath yatris for temporary staging camps (since several elderly die each year due to the cold and exhaustion during the yatra). The true Kashmiriyat that celebrates Bharat’s loss in cricket with a mini-Eid.

The true Kashmiriyat that stones the few Pandits who have dared to return back and live in transit camps.  The true Kashmiriyat that gang-raped many Kashmiri Pandit women (who were often killed after that) during the 1989-91 time period. That is the Kashmiriyat I am talking about. Is it alive? Is it well?

I have great news for all secularists. Yes it is!!!  Here is the latest evidence that this Kashmiriyat is still alive and growing up very nicely, thank you.

We have all heard the filmi drama rendering of the Amarnath yatra Jihadi attack.  Rajnath Singh used it as another opportunity to tell us that the fictitious Kashmiriyat (mind you, not the true Kashmiriyat I am talking about) is well.  He was far less concerned with the health of the Yatris than with the health of this fictitious entity called “Kashmiriyat”.  Let me assure him it is doing very well.

So how do we know this? How do we know that, khuda na khaasta, Kashmiriyat ko kucch ho to nahi gaya? (God forbid if anything happens to Kashmiriyat)

Here is the evidence.  This is from reports after the surviving yatris returned to Gujarat, and appeared yesterday in Dainik Bhaskar (Surat edition).  One can obtain the paper from http://epaper.bhaskar.com/surat-city-hindi/488/12072017/mpcg/1/

Let me translate the line starting from 5th from top.

“Roughly 2 – 2.5 Kms ahead [of the terrorist attack at Batengoo], the driver stopped the bus.  Around us were small shops.  When we saw the shopkeepers, we felt a little better, some strength returned to us.  However, none of us had the courage to get out of the bus.  Some people called out to the shopkeepers:

“Please,… help us.  There are some people here who have been shot.  Their blood does not stop flowing.  Please come … help us.  Please call the police.”

However, the shopkeepers were ignoring our pleas.  We saw that some of them were laughing, smiling, instead of helping.  Seeing this, we lost hope.  However, after that, some army vehicles came (and helped them….)

So, as we can see Mr. Rajnath Singh, your beloved Kashmiriyat has not died.  It is alive and well.  Now please leave us alone to grieve, since you have not lost your loved Kashmiriyat, but we have indeed lost our loved Yatris.  Let us grieve.

I don't judge people by the religion they profess: every human being should be treated with equal dignity. At the same time, I don't judge a religion by the people I know who profess it. A religion, like any doctrine, should be subjected to critical examination using facts and reason.

  1. Really a great depiction of truth brother. We are fed up with RajNathSinghs Kasmiriyat and its chutiyapa. This man is lost to wilderness . He is doing least to contain the menace of the Red Army and Terrorists all across india. he never visited Karla and Bengal where lal chaddis are killing RSS and BJP workers in broad day light.

Over and above He wanted that We must call him or compare with Swar. Sardar Patel Ji. This fellow req serious course correction in his wits and wisdom , in order to gain ground and help Hindus. If this is not taking place , then 2019 win to BJP will be a far fetched dream.

  2. Thanks for clarifying what many of us always felt: that there is no such thing as the politician-described “Kashmiriyat.” It is almost like Germans gloating about Germanhood after killing all the Jews there!
