In its attempt to unseat the Boris Johnson led Conservative Party and grab power, the Labour Party has adopted the policy of appeasing British Muslims using the Kashmir issue. ‘Muslim appeasement’ seems to be driving the agenda and policies of Labour Party in the upcoming elections, which is a cause of concern among British Hindus & other Dharmic groups who have been loyal supporters of the party since several decades.
Allegations by Conservative Candidate
Conservative candidate from Barking Tamkeen Shaikh has accused Labour party of spreading fear in the minds of British Muslims using an inflammatory text message. The text, not officially from Labour, states British Muslims should vote for Labour Party as “Indian Hindus will be voting Conservative ‘to punish Labour’ for voting to support Kashmiris at the last annual conference.”
In addition the text has named an owner of a restaurant in Leicester saying he had been encouraging Hindus to vote Conservative and asked Muslims to boycott his business. Targeting an individual for his personal views is an attack on his democratic rights and calling for an economic boycott of a Hindu restaurant owner is the worst form of politics. This clearly points out the Hinduphobia of Labour Party supporters who are trying to mobilize Muslim voters through anti-Hindu messaging.
Hinduphobic Labour Party
This, though, isn’t the first instance of Hinduphobia shown by the Labour Party. Earlier too, in utter disregard of its loyal supporters for decades, Labour Party passed an anti-Bharat resolution in September 2019 on Kashmir. As pointed out by Hindupost this is not just anti-Bharat but is also tantamount to interfering in the internal affairs of another country. How Bharat manages its matters relating to its states and population is entirely its prerogative.
Time and again, Jeremy Corbyn and his party have proved their deep-rooted hatred and bias against Hindus. While Labour Party stands by British Muslims, it has never extended the same courtesy to British Hindus and Sikhs although the latter have been supportive of the party. While the Conservative Government in 1972 sent flights to Uganda to save persecuted Bharatiyas from Idi Amin, Labour City Council advertised in Ugandan newspapers to discourage them from coming to Leicester.
The Labour Party has been pursuing an extremely anti-Hindu policy including supporting the dangerous ‘caste law’; that too when it is in the opposition. Needless to say it is now trying its hand at policy of Muslim appeasement in the hope that this policy would pay dividends and allow it to win the upcoming elections. This has worried the Bharatiya Dharmic community in UK, which has contributed to the development and prosperity of Britain over several decades and generations.
The Labour Party’s stance has caused stress and tension among the British Indian diaspora and their continuous targeting of British Hindu and Dharmic communities, under one pretext or the other, has distressed the latter who have stood by the party for a long time. It is time for Hindus living in the West to mobilize against such anti-Hindu forces and to exercise their democratic rights to protect their interests and identity.
