Muslim Youth Who Attacked Media in Jammu’s Rohingya Settlement Is Related to Muslim BJP Mahila Morcha Leader?

One of the two Muslim youths who attacked reporters of a TV news channel in Rohingya-concentrated Bhatindi area of Jammu is related to a BJP Mahila Morcha office bearer, Jammu-based new outlet Early Times has reportedĀ in a startling allegation.

Police has lodged FIR No. 77/2018 under sections 341, 323, 382/34 of RPC (Ranbir Penal Code –Ā Ā Indian Penal Code is not applicable in J&K under Article 370) at Trikuta Nagar police station and the two accused – Muhammad Ashraf and Sher Muhammad, both residents of Bathindi – have been arrested.

“Mother of the accused youth, who assaulted media persons and also used abusive language at Bathindi area, is office bearer of Mahila Morcha of BJP and joined the BJP in 2013,” said sources quoted in the Early Times report.

On Tuesday, March 13 a group of reporters from national news channels (Republic TV, India News etc) along with a local RTI activist had gone to Kerain Talab area of Jammuā€™sĀ Bathindi to cover a story on how SIM cards were obtained by the illegal Rohingya refugees, where they were harassed and assaulted by a group of youths.

As per Republic TVā€™s bureau headĀ Tejinder Sodhi, while they were covering the story, two people alighted from a vehicle and started to abuse them claiming that media turned up every other day to ‘harass’ the Rohingyas. When the journalists refused to leave the venue, they became violent and attacked theĀ journalists with lathis and rods.

Daily Excelsior has reported that the local youth, one of whom is related to a Muslim BJP Mahila Morcha leader, were upset as the Rohingyas who are living on rent basis on their land and rooms are leaving due to the media scrutiny, due to which they are suffering financial loss.

The police have claimed that the attack was perpetrated by the locals without the involvement of the Rohingyas, butĀ RTI activistĀ Rohit Choudhary told SwarajyaĀ that while the said youths were assaulting the journalists, the Rohingyas proceeded to encourage them by raising slogans and failed to come to the journalistsā€™ aid.Ā

Infiltration into BJP?

While HinduPost has not been able to independently confirm the news about alleged involvement of a BJP Mahila Morcha leader in giving land to Rohingyas, cases of new inductions into BJP going against the party’s avowed ideology and stand are not new.

Last year, the party was forced to suspendĀ Benazir Arfan, aĀ leader of its Assam state executive committee, for voicing support for illegal Rohingya refugees. Incidentally, Arfan was a victim of triple talaqĀ who had spoken against the practice from BJP platforms in the past.

The situation in Jammu is deteriorating rapidly and sense of fear & anger in Hindus has reached dangerous levels, which should set alarm bells ringing in top echelons of BJP and RSS.

Lutyens’ Support for Rohingyas

Lakhs of Rohingyas have fled Myanmar in last few years, most to Bangladesh and around 40,000 to Bharat as per official figures, after a violent insurgency launched by jihadi teror group ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) triggered a crackdown by Buddhist-majority Myanmar.Ā The Rohingyas who fled to India were mainly settled in Jammu, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan states under UPA rule, and are still coming in today.

In Aug 2017, Ministry of Home Affairs had issued an advisory to all state governments that the ā€œpowers to identify and deport the foreign nationals staying illegally in the countryā€ had been delegated to them, and that they should ā€œsensitize all law enforcement and intelligence agenciesā€ to the risk from Rohingyas.

As soon as news about this advisory became public, a petition was filed by two Rohingya refugees,Ā Salimullah and Shaqir, living in New Delhi challenging the Government’s decision to deport Rohingya Muslims – Senior advocates Rajeev Dhavan and Prashant Bhushan, both eminent members of the Lutyens cabal, represented the refugee petitioners. The petition was immediately taken up by a bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra whichĀ suggested to the Centre not to deport these refugees.

A fresh plea was filed in Jan this year by the same two Rohingya refugees, alleging that the BSF was using “chilli and stun grenades” to stop more refugees from entering Bharat – to which the SC asked the Centre to respond in 4 weeks. Various other pleas in support of the Rohingyas, including by CPI(M) youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the West Bengal child rights body, have been filed in the apex court.

Most of the English-language news media has been supportive of settling Rohingyas in Bharat, even in sensitive border states like J&K where Hindus were first expelled from the valley and are now being squeezed out from Jammu as well. ‘Secular’ leaders like Mamta Banerjee have already made it clear that their allegiance lies with the Rohingyas rather than the stand taken by the Union Govt, while others like Rahul Gandhi have maintained a studied silence on the issue thus far.

Only few like Indic Collective trust & ex-RSS ideologue K N Govindacharya have filed petitions in SC seeking deportation of the Rohingyas.
